The Michigan Wolverines announced that six swimmers and one diver signed national letters of intent from the high school class of 2016. <\/span><\/p>\n

Swimming World took a deeper look into three of the team\u2019s recruits with the most potential. <\/span><\/p>\n

Emily Eastin <\/b><\/p>\n

Eastin is the seventh recruit from the state of California and the 49th recruit nationally, according to collegeswimming.com. She will help the Wolverines most in the 100-yard backstroke. Her best times include a 53.54 in the 100-yard backstroke and 1:58.04 in the 200-yard backstroke. She also goes a 54.24 in the 100-yard butterfly. She has been a finalist in the 100-yard backstroke at both the USA Swimming Junior National Championships (2013) and the Speedo Junior National Championships (2013, 2014). <\/span><\/p>\n

Monica Babits <\/b><\/p>\n

Babits is the third ranked swimmer in Ontario and the 248th nationally. She won the 100-meter butterfly at the Canadian Junior National Championships and took third in the event in the 2015 Canadian Summer National Championships. Her best times include a 1:01.18 100-meter butterfly and a 2:23.15 200-meter butterfly.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am absolutely thrilled with my decision to commit to the University of Michigan; not only do they have stellar academics and athletics, but they have phenomenal team spirit that gave me an intrinsic sense of being apart of something greater than myself,\u201d she said on her College Swimming profile. \u201cGo Blue!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Jacqueline Schafer <\/b><\/p>\n

Schafer is coming all the way to Ann Arbor from Sydney, Australia. She goes a 1:03.72 100-meter backstroke and a 2:16.83 200-meter backstroke. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Wolverines other recruits are <\/span>Vanessa Krause, Millie Macdonald, Annalisa Perez <\/b>and diver <\/span>Kristen Hayden. <\/b><\/p>\n

“We’ve got a great group at this point in time,” head coach Mike Bottom<\/strong> said in a press release. “There’s still some work to be done, but each of these individuals are bright students and hard-working athletes that will help us continue to move in the right direction as a team.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
