From www.usswim.org – PERTH, AUSTRALIA – USA’s Amy Van Dyken and Lenny Krayzelburg won individual golds on the final day of the World Championships, as the American swimmers finished with 14 gold medals, the biggest gold medal haul by a U.S. team in 20 years. <\/p>\n
Krayzelburg won the 200m backstroke with a 1:58.84. “That was my goal coming into this meet,” Krayzelburg said. “I\u2019m not impressed with the time, but at this meet it\u2019s all about winning. I\u2019m very happy.” <\/p>\n
Krayzelburg then turned around and led off the medley relay with Kurt Grote, Neil Walker and Gary Hall, Jr. The team swam the 12th-fastest medley relay ever with a 3:38.56, but the Australians, led by Michael Klim, took the race with a 3:37.98 to stop the U.S. undefeated streak in this event at seven straight World Championships. <\/p>\n
