THE 2014 edition of the Commonwealth Games will be held in Glasgow, Scotland. That city beat out Abuja, Nigeria, the only other candidate to host the Games, by a vote of 47-24. Halifax was a contender to host earlier this year, but withdrew its bid. The last time that Scotland held the Commonwealth Games was in 1986, when the festivities took place in Edinburgh.
