MIAMI University&#39;s men&#39;s swimming and diving team battled hard and came through with a tough 137-106 win against Cleveland State on Saturday afternoon. Senior Paul Ricard scored two distance freestyle wins and junior Chris Heaton won both the one and three meter diving events in the win. <\/p>\n<p>After Cleveland State won the 400 medley relay by just under one second in the first event of the meet, Ricard recorded a first-place finish with a time of 9:32.19 in the 1,000 freestyle to win by more than 10 seconds over fellow RedHawk, freshman Darin Smith. Following a Viking win in the 200 freestyle, senior Ryan McHugh touched the wall first in the 50 freestyle with a season-best time of 21.22. Miami placed second and third in the 200 individual medley and added wins by Heaton in the one-meter dive and senior Nick DuPuis in the 200 butterfly. <\/p>\n<p>The Vikings notched back-to-back wins in the 100 freestyle and 200 backstroke before the Ricard\/Smith duo collected another 1-2 finish in the 500 freestyle. Heaton added a first-place finish in the 3-meter dive before the Miami `A&#39; 400 freestyle team won the last event, giving the Red and White a 137-106 win. <\/p>\n<p>The RedHawks continue their stretch of home dual meets when they host Ohio State at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16. <\/p>\n<p><i> Special thanks to Miami for contributing this report. <\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>OXFORD, Ohio, November 10.
