Michigan announced their recruiting class for the class of 2016. Swimming World<\/em> looked into their top five recruits on the men\u2019s side. <\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Tommy Cope<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    According to CollegeSwimming.com, Cope is the ninth ranked recruit nationally and will come to Ann Arbor from Ohio. He brings versatility to the already strong Wolverine team. He has times of 54.74 in the 100-yard breaststroke, 1:59.55 in the 200-yard breaststroke and 3:53.54 in the 400-yard individual medley. <\/span><\/p>\n

    \u201cI was blessed to meet great people throughout this process, and Michigan was no exception,\u201d Cope said on his College Swimming profile. \u201cI love the coaches and team, the academics are great, and I really see myself excelling here. Go blue!\u201d<\/p>\n

    1. James Jones<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Jones will be able to make an immediate impact as a spring freestyler for the Wolverine team. The Virginia native boasts times of 19.95 in the 50-yard freestyle and 43.97 in the 100-yard freestyle. He is the 20th ranked swimmer in the class of 2016. <\/span><\/p>\n

      \u201cI found that the University of Michigan has a unique combination of top-tier academics, a brilliant coaching staff and team culture,\u201d he said on his College Swimming profile. \u201cI know that, at the University of Michigan, I will have the best possible support in maturing as an athlete, as a student, and as a man.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

      1. Jeremy Babinet<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Babinet, the 28th ranked recruit nationally, will come to Michigan from California. He will most likely serve as a breaststroke specialist for the Wolverines. He holds best times of 53.70 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 1:58.10 in the 200-yard breaststroke. <\/span><\/p>\n

        \u201cThe coaches are amazing, the team is great and the engineering program is impressive,\u201d he said on his College Swimming profile. \u201cIt is the perfect school for me \u2013 both in and out of the pool.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

        1. Jacob Montague <\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Montague will be staying in his home state for college. The top swimmer in the state of Michigan for the class of 2016 was ranked 36th nationally. Montague specializes in the individual medley and the breaststroke. His top times include a 54.68 100-yard breaststroke and a 1:48.30 200-yard individual medley.<\/p>\n

          \u201cThe moment I entered Ann Arbor, I knew that that was where I wanted to be,\u201d he said on his College Swimming profile. \u201cThe program has a tradition of excellence, and everyone there strives to keep that tradition alive.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

          1. Charles Swanson<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Swanson specializes in long distance freestyle and breaststroke, which makes him one of the strongest 400-yard individual medley swimmers in the class of 2016. <\/span><\/p>\n

            The Virginia native is ranked 37th nationally and has best times of 3:48.98 in the 400-yard individual medley and 4:26.75 in the 500-yard freestyle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
