Swimming World<\/em> has learned that members of the Towson Tiger squad intend to boycott this weekend\u2019s dual meet against Pittsburgh in protest of the lack of information coming out from Towson\u2019s athletics department regarding a video-recording device being found in the women\u2019s swimming and diving locker room at Towson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to several members of the Towson Tigers, a large majority of the team is slated to peacefully boycott the dual meet this weekend unless Towson University comes clean with more information from the two investigations currently ongoing regarding the recording.<\/p>\n

According to members of the team, the administration has met with the team at least four times, and no new information has been given other than that both a Title IX and a police department investigation are currently ongoing.<\/p>\n

The athletics director has not attended the past three meetings, and the administration has ignored requests from the team to name an interim head coach until the end of the investigation.<\/p>\n

Currently, two of the four coaches on the staff have been placed on administrative leave pending the end of the investigation as head diving coach Maureen Mead<\/strong> and assistant coach Adrienne Phillips<\/strong> are not on deck. That leaves head coach\u00a0Pat Mead<\/strong>\u00a0and first-year assistant\u00a0Jake Shrum<\/strong> as the only coaches currently on deck.<\/p>\n

Swimming World\u2019s<\/em> sources state that the team has lost trust in the administration handling this investigation, and wanted to make sure that something was done publicly about it.<\/p>\n

No reportable information has yet been divulged about exactly what happened with the video-recording, especially since the official investigations are ongoing.\u00a0 The speculation surrounding the incident, however, is growing with no new information coming out from Towson.<\/p>\n

Towson University responded to this story the day following the initial report.<\/p>\n

The university has nothing to “come clean” with, we are conducting a thorough investigation and taking action based on the information available. \u00a0The team\u2019s well-being continues to be our priority, and that\u2019s why we have continued to meet with the team to keep them informed and hear their concerns every step of the way.
