For more information about Agon, visit their website\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.agonswim.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">AgonSwim.com<\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Edgewood High School dethroned the two-time defending champion Grafton High School at the DII Wisconsin Girls Swimming and Diving state championships in Madison on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The star of the day was freshman Alexandra Moderski of McFarland. She won the 50 free in a state record time of 22.84. She broke the state record that belonged to Samantha Senczyszyn from 2013 at 22.91. She then went on to win the 100 free in a new state record at 50.26, just squeaking by the old record at 50.28 by Kristin Malone set in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Moderski also was on the 200 free relay for McFarland that finished second but the team was disqualified. Her 400 free relay team ended up getting second to Grafton with both teams going 3:31s.<\/p>\n<p>Edgewood was able to win the state title with only two wins in the meet with the 200 free relay and sophomore Kelly Rodriguez in the 200 freestyle.<\/p>\n<p>The team of Kaitlyn Barth, Issy Petersen, Maggie McNeil and Rodriguez touched first in the 200 free relay by a massive margin of almost four seconds over second place DeForest. The Edgewood team went 1:36.74 and missed the state record of 1:36.02. Rodriguez picked up an exciting win in a tie for first place with Monona Grove senior Wendy Pfefferkorn at 1:52.40.<\/p>\n<p>The only other state record that fell Friday was the 100 backstroke thanks to Grafton Junior Autumn Haebig at 54.95. The old record was 55.45 set by Bridgette Alexander in 2012. Haebig also won the 500 free with her third straight win in that event at the state meet at 4:54.72.<\/p>\n<p>Haebig also was a backstroker\u00a0on the winning 200 medley relay \u00a0team along with relay mates\u00a0Emma O&#8217;Brien, Natalie Keshemberg and Mallory Fox. The crew set a state record with a 1:45.87, breaking the old record held by Shorewood at 1:46.22. Haebig also swam the third leg on the winning 400 free relay team for Grafton at 3:31.13.\u00a0All four members from the medley relay were on the 400 free relay.<\/p>\n<p>Other event winners on the day were Carolyn Jungers from Greendale winning the 200 IM at 2:05.12. Jungers will be headed to Miami, OH next year. McFarland senior Sara Hagen won two events on the day. She won the 100 fly at 56.27 and the 100 breast at 1:03.43.
