{"id":160972,"date":"2015-11-13T21:26:57","date_gmt":"2015-11-14T04:26:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=160972"},"modified":"2015-11-13T21:26:57","modified_gmt":"2015-11-14T04:26:57","slug":"video-interview-chase-kalisz-honored-by-michael-phelps-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/video-interview-chase-kalisz-honored-by-michael-phelps-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Video Interview: Chase Kalisz Honored By Michael Phelps&#8217; Support"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NBAC&#8217;s Chase Kalisz picked up a big win against Michael Phelps in the men&#8217;s 200-meter fly at the 2015 Arena Pro Swim Series Minneapolis.<\/p>\n<p>Kalisz expects Phelps to be much better by the time taper comes along next summer.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Chase Kalisz Honored By Michael Phelps&#039; Support\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/b0PQQgE1AeQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><strong>Original 200 fly report:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>NBAC\u2019s <strong>Chase Kalisz<\/strong> had more in the tank in the men\u2019s 200-meter fly as he overtook superstar training partner <strong>Michael Phelps<\/strong> for the win at the 2015 Arena Pro Swim Series Minneapolis.<\/p>\n<p>With Phelps out in 56.04 to lead at the halfway mark, Kalisz powered home with a winning time of 1:58.07. \u00a0That\u2019s still not a super fast time at this part of the season, but still showed some racing ability against the greatest of all time.<\/p>\n<p>Phelps settled for silver with a time of 1:58.38 as he finished just behind Kalisz.<\/p>\n<p>Mission Viejo\u2019s <strong>Grant Shoults<\/strong> took third overall in 2:00.41, while Nashville\u2019s <strong>Dakota Hodgson<\/strong> placed fourth in 2:00.64.<\/p>\n<p>Princeton\u2019s<strong> Corey Okubo<\/strong> (2:00.66), SwimMAC\u2019s <strong>Tyler Clary<\/strong> (2:00.81), Missouri\u2019s <strong>Mack Darragh<\/strong>(2:01.19) and Club Wolverine\u2019s <strong>Michael Flach<\/strong> (2:01.83) also swam in the finale.<\/p>\n<p>Northern Kentucky\u2019s <strong>Brendan Meyer<\/strong> took home the consolation heat win in 2:01.72 with Gator\u2019s<strong>Sebastien Rousseau<\/strong> snaring second in 2:02.10.
