The Hoosier men won 184-116, while the Hoosier women topped the Badgers with a score of 182-118.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Indiana Press Release:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Indiana men\u2019s and women\u2019s swimming and diving teams swept Big Ten rival Wisconsin in a dual meet\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_88234803\">on Friday<\/span>\u00a0afternoon at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington, Ind.<\/p>\n<p>The No. 10 Hoosier men defeated the No. 15 Badgers, 184-116, while the No. 8 IU women beat No. 18 Wisconsin, 182-118, in the long course meter meet. The Hoosiers totaled 20 individual wins and three relay wins combined in the pair of victories. For the IU divers, all four scored NCAA Zones qualifying marks in both events.<\/p>\n<p>In the first event of the day, the IU men placed first in the 200 medley relay, with the team of Bob Glover, Max Irwin, Ali Khalafalla and Adam Destrampe touched first with a time of 1:42.49 \u2013 the fifth-fastest time in school history. For the women, the team of Ali Rockett, Miranda Tucker, Christine Jensen and Gabriela Rajic placed second with a mark of 1:59.24 \u2013 the fourth-fastest time in program history.<\/p>\n<p>Jackson Miller led the charge for the Hoosiers in the 800 freestyle, placing second in a time of 8:15.95 \u2013 the third-fastest time in IU history. Adam Destrampe also swam well, coming in third in 8:31.58. For the women, Stephanie Marchuk touched second in a time of 8:59.92.<\/p>\n<p>The 200 freestyle was a terrific event for the Hoosiers. On the women\u2019s side, IU went 1-2-3. Haley Lips finished first (2:02.96), Stephanie Marchuk second (2:05.29) and Kaitlin Kitchen third (2:05.76). For the men, Anze Tavcar touched first in a time of 1:52.02, while Blake Pieroni finished second with a mark of 1:52.09.<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy Goss earned the first of three individual wins on the day in the 100 backstroke, placing first in a time of 1:02.56. Marie Chamberlain was second in a time of 1:04.41. For the IU men, Bob Glover touched first with a mark of 56.90, while Ryan Gordon placed third with a time of 58.08.<\/p>\n<p>Tanner Kurz claimed his first of two wins in the meet in the 100 breaststroke, finishing in a time of 1:04.84. For the Hoosier women, Lilly King continued her strong season, winning with a mark of 1:10.08. Miranda Tucker placed second in 1:10.56.<\/p>\n<p>In the 200 butterfly, Max Irwin won for the Hoosiers, touching the wall in a time of 2:04.96. Irwin\u2019s time ranks fourth in program history. Brandon Colonis placed third in 2:07.78. On the women\u2019s side, Reagan Cook finished second (2:19.43), while Gia Dalesandro came in third (2:20.44) for IU.<\/p>\n<p>Ali Khalafalla was terrific in the 50 freestyle, setting the Indiana long course meter school record with his winning time of 22.81. Anze Tavcar finished third with a time of 23.33. For the women, Kaitlin Kitchens placed third in a time of 26.53.<\/p>\n<p>In the 1-meter dive, both the IU men and women placed 1-2. On the women\u2019s side, Lacey Houser won with a career-best score of 325.13, ranking her as the eighth-best 1-meter diver in IU history. Michal Bower finished second with a season-best score of 285.38. For the men, Cody Coldren won with a season-best mark of 376.88, while Joshua Arndt came in second with a season-best score of his own (354.23).<\/p>\n<p>Blake Pieroni continued his stellar season, winning the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.98. Anze Tavcar placed second in 51.78. For the Hoosier women, Haley Lips came in second with a time of 57.78.<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy Goss was back at it in the 200 backstroke, winning with a time of 2:17.71. Rachel Matsumura placed second for the Hoosiers with a mark of 2:19.56. For the IU men, Bob Glover came in second with a time of 2:08.11.<\/p>\n<p>Miranda Tucker earned her first of two wins against the Badgers in the 200 breaststroke, touching the wall with a winning time of 2:32.41, ranking her fourth all-time in IU history. Lilly King was second with a mark of 2:33.74. For the men, Tanner Kurz completed his sweep of the breast events, touching the wall in a time of 2:22.66.<\/p>\n<p>In the 400 freestyle, Kennedy Goss claimed her third win of the day, touching first with a time of 4:20.68. Haley Lips was the runner-up with a time of 4:21.40. On the men\u2019s side, Jackson Miller came in second with a time of 4:01.51 \u2013 the fifth-fastest in IU history.<\/p>\n<p>Gia Dalesandro led Indiana in the 100 butterfly, winning with a time of 1:02.11. Olivia Barker was third with a mark of 1:03.48. For the IU men, Max Irwin was second overall with a time of 56.54, while Blake Pieroni finished third in 56.74.<\/p>\n<p>In the 3-meter dive, Joshua Arndt won for the Hoosiers with a career-best score of 432.53. Arndt\u2019s mark ranks him as the sixth-best 3-meter diver in IU history. Cody Coldren placed second with a career-best score of 379.65. On the women\u2019s side, Lacey Houser notched her second victory of the day, winning with a season-best score of 362.25. Michal Bower placed third with a season-best mark of 294.08.<\/p>\n<p>Brandon Colonis recorded her first career dual meet victory in the 200 individual medley, winning with a time of 2:11.06. For the women, Miranda Tucker tallied her second win of the day, touching first in a time of 2:21.75.<\/p>\n<p>The Hoosiers ended the meet with an exclamation point, sweeping the 400 freestyle relay. For the women, the team of Kaitlin Kitchens, Haley Lips, Gabriela Rajic and Kennedy Goss won with a time of 3:51.49 \u2013 the second-fastest time in school history. For the men, the team of Blake Pieroni, Anze Tavcar, Oliver Patrouch and Ali Khalafalla touched the wall first in a time of 3:26.13.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wisconsin Press Release:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In its first road test of the season, the Wisconsin swimming and diving program fell to Indiana in dual meet action at the Counsilmen-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_88235587\">on Friday<\/span>\u00a0afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>The Hoosiers edged the UW women&#8217;s team, 182-118, while the Badger men also fell in a 184-116 final.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the losses, the Badgers earned a number of wins and had strong individual performances across the board to attribute to the team&#8217;s effort.<\/p>\n<p>Chase Kinney and Matt Hutchins led the way for Wisconsin, as each swimmer won two events apiece at\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_88235588\">Friday&#8217;s<\/span>\u00a0meet.<\/p>\n<p>Kinney claimed her first individual win of the day in the 50-meter freestyle, as the junior finished the long-course event in a time of 25.52 seconds. Kinney also claimed the 100-meter freestyle (56.94).<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s distance events, Hutchins led the way with a first-place finish in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of eight minutes, 13.04 seconds. He then came back to win the 400-meter freestyle as well in 3:59.28.<\/p>\n<p>The UW women won the only relay of the night for the Badgers, as the team of Jess Unicomb, Anna Meinholz, Dana Grindall, and Kinney captured the 200-meter medley relay with a time of 1:54.92, which got UW on the board in the first event of the dual.<\/p>\n<p>Following the medley relay, Danielle Valley stepped up to win the women&#8217;s 800-meter freestyle for Wisconsin in a time of 8:54.85. Jenny Holtzen was third in the event with a time of 9:11.28.<\/p>\n<p>Valley also earned second- and third-place finishes in the 200-meter individual medley (2:23.28) and the 400-meter freestyle (4:22.24), respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Dana Grindall captured the women&#8217;s 200-meter butterfly, as she touched the wall in a time of 2:17.44 to beat the second-place finisher by over two seconds. Grindall also competed in the 100-meter butterfly, where she finished second (1:02.74).<\/p>\n<p>Freshman standout Jess Unicomb finished second and third in the women&#8217;s 100- and 200-meter backstroke events, recording times of 1:04.23 and 2:20.36, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>On the diving boards, Ashley Peterson led the UW women on both the 1-meter and 3-meter. She finished third on the 1-meter (276 points) and second on the 3-meter (338.48 points).<\/p>\n<p>For the men, Austin Byrd captured the 200-meter backstroke in a time of 2:07.68, while he finished second in the 100-meter backstroke (57.92). \u00a0Todd McCarthy was third in the 200-meter event with a time of 2:08.40.<\/p>\n<p>Harrison Tran won the 100-meter butterfly for the Badgers with a time of 55.92 seconds. Tran was second in the 200-meter butterfly (2:07.23) as well.<\/p>\n<p>Jake Mandli and Chris Wills led the way for Wisconsin in the breaststroke events, as the pair finished second and third in both the 100- and 200-meter events, respectively. Mandli recorded times of 1:05.11 and\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_88235589\">2:25<\/span>, 39, while Wills finished the duo of events in 1:07.63 and 2:30.12.<\/p>\n<p>On the diving boards for the men, Carter Clark finished third in both the 1-meter and 3-meter discipline, recording scores of 279.90 and 329.18, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin is right back in action\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_88235590\">Saturday<\/span>\u00a0morning, as they travel to Northwestern for a\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_88235591\">10:30 a.m. (CT)<\/span>dual meet against the Wildcats in Evanston, Illinois.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The men and women of Indiana University collected wins Friday night against the men and women of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
