LAUSANNE, Switzerland, November 7. DURING a press conference Wednesday, International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge indicated that he hopes, beginning with the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver and the 2012 Summer Games in London, that any athlete who ever served a six-month doping ban will be barred from the Olympics.<\/p>\n
Rogge also stated that there was no guarantee that the athletes who finished behind Marion Jones at the 2000 Olympics will have their finishes upgraded. Before the IOC awards medals in the events in which Jones earned a podium position, the organization will analyze whether those athletes merit upward movement. The top five athletes in each event were tested for doping at the 2000 Olympics and once the athletes behind Jones are cleared, appropriate measures will be taken.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
