That\u2019s a second back of her sixth-ranked best of 1:55.49 from Worlds this summer as well.<\/p>\n<p>Schmitt claimed the third spot on the podium with a time of 1:57.27.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia\u2019s <strong>Leah Smith<\/strong> (1:57.79), Saint Petersburg\u2019s <strong>Melanie Margalis<\/strong> (1:58.11), NBAC\u2019s <strong>Cierra Runge<\/strong>(1:59.15), California\u2019s <strong>Camille Cheng<\/strong> (1:59.85) and Aggie\u2019s <strong>Sarah Henry<\/strong> (2:01.15) also competed in the championship heat.<\/p>\n<p>Mission Viejo\u2019s <strong>Stephanie Peacock<\/strong> walked away with the B final victory with a time of 1:59.93 in what proved to be an incredibly close consolation heat. \u00a0Bulldog\u2019s <strong>Shannon Vreeland<\/strong> took second in 2:00.04 with California\u2019s <strong>Katie McLaughlin<\/strong> earning third in 2:00.14. That time vaulted her to 12th in the world rankings and crushed the previous pool record of 4:40.51 set by <strong>Katie Hoff<\/strong> back in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Leverenz, fresh off some cash winnings on the FINA World Cup tour, collected some more money tonight with a second-place 4:39.10. \u00a0That\u2019s well off her sixth-ranked season best of 4:35.46 from the Pan American Games, but more than enough to win money tonight.<\/p>\n<p>Leverenz wasn\u2019t even slated to compete in the A final after finishing ninth, but<strong> Maya DiRado\u2019s<\/strong>scratched opened the door for her to make some noise.<\/p>\n<p>NCAP\u2019s <strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong>, the best freestyler on the planet, became the first person to win a pair of medals tonight with a 4:39.18 for third overall.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota\u2019s <strong>Brooke Zeiger<\/strong> (4:42.49), Gator\u2019s <strong>Elizabeth Beisel<\/strong> (4:43.12), SwimMAC\u2019s <strong>Cammile Adams<\/strong> (4:44.07), Aggie\u2019s <strong>Sarah Henry<\/strong> (4:45.35) and UBCD\u2019s <strong>Emily Overholt<\/strong> (4:45.58) finished fourth through eighth.<\/p>\n<p>Vietnam\u2019s <strong>Vien Nguyen<\/strong>
