A lottery system is being implemented for the obtaining of tickets for next year&#39;s Olympic Games in China. Last week, technological problems caused havoc for individuals in China trying to get tickets to various events. Not only did computers crash on those attempting to purchase tickets online, phone lines were jammed and lengthy lines formed at banks, where people looking for tickets lined up hours in advance.<\/p>\n<p>About 75 percent of the tickets for the Olympics are being reserved for residents of the home nation and applications for a random draw will be accepted between Dec. 10 and Dec. 30. The Olympics are scheduled for Aug.8-Aug. 24 and the home country is intent on hosting an Olympics that ranks as the best in history.<\/p>\n<p>Once the problems surfaced with busy phones and crashed computer systems, officials decided to shut down the service and offered an apology to the public. Seven million tickets will be available for the Olympics, but about five million are being reserved for the Chinese public. Consequently, foreigners hoping to get tickets will be in for a battle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BEIJING, China, November 5.
