The second half of the Florida High School State Championships concluded\u00a0this weekend with the 3A and 4A divisions.<\/p>\n

3A Men and Women<\/h3>\n

Alena Kraus<\/strong> claimed two events in leading the Gainesville women to the 3A state title. She claimed the 200 freestyle in dominant fashion, finishing in a time of 1:47.86. Fort Meyer’s Kendall Brent<\/strong> finished in second in a 1:49.55 while Estero’s Kaitlyn Hauser<\/strong> was third with a 1:50.88.<\/p>\n

Kraus’ second individual state title came in the 100 freestyle when she stopped the clock in 50.78 seconds. Abby Garner<\/strong> from Barron Collier finished second in 51.74. Clearwater’s Helen Heuberger<\/strong> rounded out the top three with a 52.41.<\/p>\n

On the way to their state title, Gainesville only won two other events, both of which Kraus swam. The 200 freestyle relay finished in a time of 1:38.87, followed by Creekside in 1:39.07. Niceville raced to a 1:39.18, good for third.<\/p>\n

Finishing off the meet, the Gainesville ladies again topped the podium with their 400 freestyle relay time of 3:30.95. They were followed by Bartman Trail in 3:34.83 while Creekside was two seconds back with a 3:36.61.<\/p>\n

The Doral Academy Charter High School men won even fewer events on the way to claiming their state title. Their only title was the 200 freestyle relay which the team topped with a time of 1:25.23. They were followed incredibly closely by Fort Lauderdale, the state runner ups, with a time of 1:25.29. Atlantic Coast rounded out the top three in that event with a 1:27.17.<\/p>\n

The Washington women claimed the first event of the night, the 200 Medley Relay in a time of 1:47.28. Right on their heels, with a team of three freshman from Bartram\u00a0Trail in a 1:47.57. Clearwater rounded out the top three with a 1:49.42.<\/p>\n

On the men’s side, Belen Jesuit claimed the first state title of the night with a time of 1:34.60. Doral finished second in 1:34.80 while Chiles swam a 1:36.48 for third.<\/p>\n

Belen Jesuit’s Aitor<\/strong>\u00a0Fungairino<\/strong> took second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:39.06. Charlotte’s Hans<\/strong>\u00a0Schroeder<\/strong> beat him to the wall with a 1:38.94. Nazareno Boscaino<\/strong> from Sickles claimed third with a time of 1:40.01.<\/p>\n

In the 200 IM, Bartram Trail freshman Summer Stanfield<\/strong> raced to the wall in a time of 2:03.31. She was followed closely by Venice’s Grace Patrice<\/strong> with a time of 2:03.46. Gulf Coast’s Kayla Tennant<\/strong> rounded out the top three with a time of 2:04.47.<\/p>\n

For the men, the top three finishers were within a second of each other. Julio Horrego<\/strong> from Mater Academy touched first in 1:51.09. Seth Borgert<\/strong> of Gainseville finished second with a time of 1:51.64 while Gianmar Garcia<\/strong> rounded out the podium with a 1:51.97.<\/p>\n

The women’s 50 freestyle was incredibly close. Barron Collier’s Abby Garner<\/strong> won the state title in a time of 23.97. Finishing just .01 behind her was Washington’s Brooke Ferrara<\/strong> in a 23.98. Fatimah Westbrook<\/strong> of Fort Lauderdale was third with a 24.09.<\/p>\n

In the men’s 50, Seabreeze’s Viktor Toth<\/strong> claimed first in a time of 20.59. Fort Lauderdale teammates Raphael <\/strong>and Philip Marcoux<\/strong> finished second and third in 20.63 and 20.84 seconds, respectively. The\u00a0100 freestyle podium looked identical, as the three finished in times of 44.90, 45.23 and 45.62.<\/p>\n

In her second top three finish of the night, Tennant won the 100 butterfly by over a second, finishing in a time of 55.42. Vanguard’s Lindsey Cohee<\/strong> was second in 56.36. Hollywood Hills’ Racine Ross<\/strong> swam a 56.50 for third.<\/p>\n

Gianmar Garcia\u00a0<\/strong>of Creekside earned first in the men’s 100 Butterfuly finishing in a time of 50.33. Belen Jesuit’s\u00a0Max Garcia del Pozo\u00a0<\/strong>touched out Atlantic Coast’s Will Tabor<\/strong> as the two finished in 50.66 and 50.68 respectively.<\/p>\n

Kendall Brent\u00a0<\/strong>of Fort Myers ran away with the women’s\u00a0500 Freestyle, finishing in a time of 4:47.45.\u00a0Katelyn Kilpatrick\u00a0<\/strong>from Vanguard finished in second with a time of 4:54.06 and Chiles’ Stephanie Holmes<\/strong> was right behind with a 4:54.71, good for third place.<\/p>\n

Sickles teammates and brothers\u00a0Nazareno Boscaino\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Ludovico Boscaino\u00a0<\/strong>finished in first and third in the men’s 500 freestyle with times of 4:26.14 and 4:29.01.\u00a0Shawn Lemarie<\/strong> of Naples earned second with a 4:28.71.<\/p>\n

Heuberger out touched Ferrara in the\u00a0100 backstroke as the two finished with times of 56.89 and 56.90. Pines Charter’s\u00a0Kelly Heron\u00a0<\/strong>claimed third with a 57.39.<\/p>\n

After a second place finish in the 200 freestyle, Schroeder claimed the men’s 100 backstroke state title with a time of 48.70. Venice’s Jackson DeFore<\/strong> earned second with a 49.41. Borgert was third in 51.54.<\/p>\n

In the women’s 100 breastroke, Chiles’\u00a0Morgan Ayers\u00a0<\/strong>raced to first with a 1:04.81. Washington’s\u00a0Heidi Schellin\u00a0<\/strong>finished second with a 1:05.51 and Westbrook finished third in 1:05.93<\/p>\n

On the men’s side Ryan Walker<\/strong> of Braden River claimed the state title in 56.41. Julio Horrego<\/strong> of Mater Academy was second in 56.73 and Jensen Beach’s Al Madden<\/strong> was third with a time of 57.02.<\/p>\n

In the final event of the night, the men’s 400 freestyle relay, Fort Lauderdale cam out on top with a time of 3:05.14. Doral finished second in 3:06.26. Venice rounded out the top three with a time of 3:11.08.<\/p>\n

In the overall team standings, the Gainesville women were first with 196 points. Bartram Trail was second with 166 points and Washington was just behind with 162.<\/p>\n

For the men, Doral won with 186 points while Fort Lauderdale followed closely with 177 points and Creekside finished third with 162.<\/p>\n

2015 Florida High School State Championships, 3A – Results<\/a><\/p>\n

4A Men and Women<\/h3>\n

Austin Katz and the Riverview men were dominant on the men’s side of the 4A meet.\u00a0The Riverview men started the meet taking the 200 medley relay in 1:33.30. Countryside was second in a 1:35.11 while Seminole finished third in a 1:36.57.<\/p>\n

Katz<\/strong>\u00a0claimed the men’s 200 freestyle title in a 1:37.05. His teammate, Drew Clark<\/strong> was third in a 1:39.20. Lakewood Ranch’s Daniel Erlenmeyer<\/strong> was second in a time of 1:38.81.<\/p>\n

Katz also dominated the 100 backstroke, stopping the clock at 47.92 seconds. His teammate and second place finisher\u00a0Keanan Dols<\/strong>, raced to a 50.40 while Gateway’s\u00a0Walker Brooks<\/strong>\u00a0touched third in a 51.22.<\/p>\n

The Riverview men wrapped up their dominant performance with a 3:06.02 finish in the 400 freestyle relay. Countryside claimed second in 3:08.76 and Cypress Bay was third in 3:09.24.<\/p>\n

The Buchholz women claimed the women’s 4A state\u00a0title. They started the evening with a win in the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:44.81. Lakewood Ranch took second with a 1:45.58. Plant finished third in 1:46.59.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0the 200 freestyle relay the team took the crown in a time of 1:33.88. Plant claimed second with a 1:35.81 and Oviedo was third in 1:37.60.<\/p>\n

In the final relay, the 400 freestyle, Buchholz raced to a first place time of 3:28.50. Riverview followed with a 3:29.24 for second while Boca Raton was third in 3:32.05.<\/p>\n

Buchholz also had two individual state champions. The top eight women in the 50 freestyle finished within seven tenths of each other, all under the 24 second marker. Buchholz’s Talia Bates\u00a0<\/strong>got her hand to the wall first, stopping the clock at 23.07. Her teammate Kaitlyn Cronin<\/strong> finished third with a 23.45. Durant’s\u00a0Katie Vasiloff\u00a0<\/strong>was second in a 23.31.<\/p>\n

Caitlin Brooks <\/strong>of Buchholz claimed the\u00a0100 Backstroke in a swift 55.67. Lakewood Ranch’s\u00a0Courtney Chapin\u00a0<\/strong>earned second in a 56.51 while Strawberry Crest’s\u00a0Celismar Guzman\u00a0<\/strong>was third in a 56.66.<\/p>\n

Plant’s Morgan Tankersley<\/strong> took the women’s 200 freestyle title finishing in a 1:47.54. Riverview’s Spence Atkins<\/strong> earned second place with a time of 1:49.03. Peyton Palsha<\/strong> of St. Petersburg finished third in 1:50.37.<\/p>\n

Cooper City\u00a0<\/b>freshman\u00a0Kathleen Golding\u00a0<\/strong>dominated the 200 IM finishing in a time of 2:00.40. Fellow freshman, Sarasota’s\u00a0Isabel Traba\u00a0<\/strong>took second with a 2:04.72. That time was just faster than Hagerty’s Ashley Boddiford<\/strong> who claimed third with a 2:04.76.<\/p>\n

The men’s 200 IM went to Cypress Bay’s\u00a0Marco Guarente<\/strong> in a 1:49.77. Dols\u00a0claimed second in a 1:50.11. John Fulginiti<\/strong> from Hagerty finished third in a time of 1:50.85.<\/p>\n

Wellington’s\u00a0Cody Cline\u00a0<\/strong>won the 50 freestley in a 20.14. Right behind him was Boca Raton’s\u00a0Brody Heck\u00a0<\/strong>with a time of 20.18. Seminole’s\u00a0Maverick Layne\u00a0<\/strong>earned third with a 20.75.<\/p>\n

Durant’s Vasiloff claimed her second top three finish of the night winning the 100 butterfly in a time of 54.78. Lakewood Ranch’s\u00a0Madison Jean<\/strong>\u00a0was second in a 55.06. After her 200 IM victory, Golding settled for third in this event with a 55.18.<\/p>\n

Countryside’s\u00a0Noah Lense\u00a0<\/strong>won the men’s event in a time of 48.18. Nick Hackett<\/strong> of Fleming Island took second in a 48.96 and Brooks\u00a0<\/strong>claimed third in a 49.27.<\/p>\n

The women’s 100 freestyle title went to Mandarin’s\u00a0Lauren Dunn\u00a0<\/strong>who raced to a time of 50.96. She was followed by Vero Beach’s\u00a0Elizabeth Richardson\u00a0<\/strong>in a time of 51.15. Newsome’s\u00a0Klaudia Greer\u00a0<\/strong>was just behind for a third place finish of 51.19.<\/p>\n

After an earlier second place finish, Heck rose to the top of the podium, finishing in a 44.49 in the men’s 100 freestyle. Layne also rose a spot from the 50 freestyle, claiming second in a 45.09. Fletcher’s\u00a0Gavin Jones\u00a0<\/strong>earned third with his 45.38.<\/p>\n

The top three in the women’s 200 freestyle simply rearranged themselves on the 500 freestyle podium. Atkins lead the way in a 4:48.74. Tankersley touched second with a time of 4:50.52 and Palsha finished third with a 4:51.91.<\/p>\n

In his second top three finish of the night, Clark claimed the men’s 500 freestyle title in a time of 4:21.84. Erlenmeyer followed him closely in a time of 4:22.67. Jupiter’s\u00a0Alex Cronin\u00a0<\/strong>was third in a 4:29.41.<\/p>\n

The Fleming Island men won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:25.00. The Boca Raton men were second in 1:26.57 while the Seminole men were third in 1:26.69.<\/p>\n

Winter Park’s\u00a0Isabella English\u00a0<\/strong>earned first in the 100 breastroke clocking a swift 1:03.31. Hialeah Gardens’\u00a0Jessica Rodriguez\u00a0<\/strong>was right behind her in a time of 1:03.63. Boca Raton’s\u00a0Victoria Miyamoto\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in a 1:05.39.<\/p>\n

In the men’s 100 breastroke, Cypress Bay swimmer\u00a0Marco Guarente\u00a0<\/strong>touched first in a 55.76. Plant’s\u00a0Paxton Rhoads\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock in 56.60, good for second, while Riverview’s\u00a0Campbell Lee\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in a time of 57.32.<\/p>\n

On the women’s side, after Buchholz’s 262 points, Riverview was second with 195 points, while Olympia was third with 174 points.<\/p>\n

For the men, Riverview was dominant with a 324 point finish. Countryside claimed second with 138 points and Fleming island was third, just 5 points behind with 133.<\/p>\n
