The meet was highlighted by a state record in the 100 backstroke by Ames sophomore <\/span><b>Sophie Sorenson, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as well as sweep of all three relays. Ames will return all scorers next year, as they did not have a single senior on their roster. Ankeny<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">155<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Meet Recap<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Ames 200 Medley Relay of <\/span><b>Jazlyn Horras, Molly Winer, Grace Synder, and Amy Feddersen <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">started the meet of with a bang, winning in 1:45.65 and only .15 off of the state record of 1:45.50. Ames went on to sweep all three relays, winning the 200 freestyle in 1:35.57 (<\/span><b>Sophie Sorreson, Sarah Bell, Olivia Jenks, and Amy Feddersen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) before setting a state record in the 400 freestyle relay to close the meet. The team of <\/span><b>Grace Synder, Olivia Jenks, Morgan Rosser, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>Sophie Sorenson <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">touched in a time of 3:29.15 to break the record of 3:29.27 set by Lewis Central in 2013. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Senior<\/span><b> Allyssa Fluit <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of Southeast Polk won the 200 freestyle for the third year in a row, touching in 1:47.53, just off of her state record of 1:47.14 from last year. <\/span><b>Fluit <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">also won the 500 freestyle in 4:54.78, also off her own state mark of 4:50.27 from 2014. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other multiple event winners included Johnston junior <\/span><b>Lexi Horner <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and Muscatine junior <\/span><b>Sarah Schemmel. Horner <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">won both the 200 IM (2:05.04) and the 100 breaststroke (1:05.04). <\/span><b>Schemmel <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was named outstanding swimmer of the meet after winning the 50 (23.24) and 100 (50.51) freestyles. <\/span><b>Schemmel\u2019s <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">100 freestyle time was only a tenth off of the existing state record of 50.40 set by <\/span><b>MyKenzie Leehy <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in 2014. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Newton senior <\/span><b>Samantha Hendricks <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">won the 100 butterfly in 55.01 before Ames sophomore <\/span><b>Sophie Sorenson <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">broke the first individual state record of the meet with a 54.61 in the 100 backstroke. <\/span><b>Sorenson\u2019s <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">time topped the old state record of 54.83 that was set last year by Waukee\u2019s <\/span><b>Maddie Gehrke<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/results\/2015-iowa-girls-high-school-swimming-and-diving-state-championships-day-2\/high-school\/2015\/November\/6\" target=\"_blank\">2015 Iowa Girls High School Swimming &amp; Diving State Championships &#8211; Results<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Agon is the proud sponsor of all high school coverage (recruiting, results, state championships, etc.) on SwimmingWorld.com.
