She took the 200 free title by two seconds with a 1:46.52, but her win in the 200 breast did not come as easily. She was chased by Texas A&M’s Bethany Galat and Sycerika McMahon through the entire race, but managed to hold the lead throughout and win with a 2:11.21. Galat claimed second in 2:11.51, while McMahon wasn’t far behind with a 2:12.94.

Cox saved her best swim for last, a 1:58.22 in the 200 IM that beats her previous season best by six hundredths of a second and puts her closer to Siobhan Haughey’s nation-leading time of 1:57.20. Cox had a strong back half to put a good distance between her and Galat, who placed second to Cox again with a 1:59.69.

Rebecca Millard was another multiple winner for Texas, taking both sprint freestyles. Her 22.77 in the 50 free beat out a trio of Aggies who placed second through fourth to keep Texas at bay in the event. Beryl Gastaldello (22.83), Lexie Lupton (23.15) and Kristin Malone (23.24) provided big points for the Aggies. She was in the hunt to take the 500 free title as well, but fell off the pace, allowing Texas A&M’s Sarah Gibson to win with a 4:47.75 to Evans’ 4:50.10.

Texas swept the backstroke events, as Tasija Karosas claimed the 100 back win with a 53.74 and Quinn Carrozza won the 200 back with a 1:54.82 over the 1:55.36 from Karosas.

Remedy Rule was the other individual event winner for Texas, taking the 200 fly with a 1:59.99, just ahead of the 2:00.15 by teammate Maggie D’Innocenzo. Texas closed out the meet by winning the 400 free relay with a 3:20.07.

Besides the win by Gibson in the 500 free, Texas A&M won three other events in today’s meet. Led for 75 yards, but couldn’t hold on as Galat posted a 1:01.31 to win by 45 hundredths of a second.

Beryl Gastaldello handily won the 100 fly with a 53.93, though Texas went 2-3-4 behind her as Rule (54.73), Mimi Schneider (55.14) and Brynne Wong (55.80) helped Texas secure the win.

<a target="_blank"
