THE University of Michigan men and University of Florida women lead in their respective long course meter dual meets in the opening <i>Swimming World Magazine<\/i> Dual Meet of the Week.  The Michigan men lead Florida, 95-66, while the Florida women are in front of Michigan, 114-68, after the first day of competition.<\/p>\n<p>During the initial session of swimming in the men&#39;s meet, Michigan claimed four out of the six titles up for grabs. Chris Brady (24.10), Bobby Savulich (23.30), Curtis Dauw (24.06) and Alex Vanderkaay (24.10) opened the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:35.56.  The Wolverines then won the 50 freestyle as Brady improved upon his leadoff effort of 24.10 with a winning time of 24.04.<\/p>\n<p>In the 400 medley relay, Tyler Clary (59.34), Scott Spann (1:04.66), Brady (54.92) and Savulich (51.44) touched in a B-cut time of 3:50.36.  Meanwhile, Kyle Schroeder captured the one-meter diving title with 287.17 points.<\/p>\n<p>Florida, however, wound up with a pair of titles as Tobias Work walked away with the 400 freestyle victory in a B-cut readout of 3:58.19.  Additionally, Bradley Ally took home the 200 IM crown in 2:08.26.<\/p>\n<p>Other B-cut performances in the men&#39;s meet came from Michigan&#39;s Matt Patton (3:58.65) and Clary (4:01.37) in the 400 free.<\/p>\n<p>On the women&#39;s side of the meet, the 4-2 title margin went the way of the Gators.  First, Stephanie Napier (27.27), Caroline Burckle (26.18), Colleen Healy (26.57) and Elizabeth Kemp (26.62) turned in a B-cut time of 1:46.64 to win the 200 freestyle relay.  <\/p>\n<p>Burckle followed with another triumph, this time with a B-cut effort of 4:16.95 in the 400 free.  Napier doubled her victory total as well with a 27.10 in the 50 free.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, Samantha Vanderbilt (1:05.30), Burckle (1:11.97), Kemp (1:03.81) and Napier (58.74) snared the 400 medley relay title in 4:19.82 for Florida&#39;s fourth title, as well as Burckle and Napier&#39;s third each.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan bagged a pair of titles as Margaret Kelly clocked a B-cut time of 2:22.70 to win the 200 IM and Elise Lee won the one-meter diving crown with a zone-qualifying 286.05.<\/p>\n<p>Two other B-cuts came from non-titlists as Florida&#39;s Laurebeth Guenther (4:19.42) and Michigan&#39;s Emily Brunemann (4:20.08) each provisionally qualified for NCAAs.  Meanwhile, a host of divers earn zone cuts as the diving coaches were generous.
