The Wolfpack men and women defeated the Seminoles 197-103 and 200-99 respectively.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NC State Press Release:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The NC State swimming and diving team opened its home schedule in #STATEment fashion as it downed Florida State\u00a0inside Casey Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n<p>The Wolfpack women defeated the Seminoles, 200-99, to improve to 3-0 on the regular season, while NC State men earned a 197-103 win over FSU to start its dual season off with a 1-0 ledger.<\/p>\n<p>Collectively, the Pack won 27 of the 32 events contested on the day.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wolfpack Relays<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Wolfpack men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams earned one, two finishes in the 200 medley relays.<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s team of Ashlyn Koletic, Kayla Brumbaum, Krista Duffield and Riki Bonnema recorded a Casey Aquatic Center record after placing first with a time of 1:39.13, while the squad of Lindsay Morrow, Payton Schrum, Courtney Caldwell and Lotta Nevalainen finished second with a mark of 1:42.79.<\/p>\n<p>On the men\u2019s side the team of Hennessey Stuart, Derek Hren, Ryan Held and Simonas Bilis won the relay event after stopping the clock at 1:28.09, while the quartet of Andreas Scheillerup, Daniel Graber, Jason Deana and Joe Bonk narrowly finished second with a mark of 1:29.70.<\/p>\n<p>In the 200 freestyle relay, the NC State women placed second and third. The team of Caldwell, Natalie Labonge, Emmie Barnhill and Christine Kerr swam a time of 1:34.05 and the quartet of Mariah Hamil, Caroline Estep, Rachel Muller and Kristin Connors posted a mark of 1:36.02.<\/p>\n<p>The squad of Scott Johnson, Jason Deana, Jabari Baptiste and Justin Moore won the men\u2019s 200 free relay event after stopping the clock at 1:24.11.<\/p>\n<p><b>Freestyle<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Distance specialists Rachel Muller and Anton Ipsen swept the men\u2019s and women\u2019s distance free events. In the 1,000 free Muller posted a mark of 9:58.88, finishing 15 seconds ahead of the rest of the field, while Ipsen tabbed the fastest time in the country after touching the wall at 9:00.23.<\/p>\n<p>Muller posted a mark of 4:55.42 in the women\u2019s 500 free while Ipsen swam a mark of 4:23.10 to notch a NCAA \u2018B\u2019 standard mark and the fastest time in the country.<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s event, Adam Linker and Austin Snyder took second and third to sweep the podium. Linker recorded a time of 9:12.73 while Snyder finished in 9:18.78.<\/p>\n<p>The Wolfpack women swept the 200 free, as Muller earned another first-place finish with a mark of 1:49.34 and Zevnik and Kerr rounded out the top three with times of 1:50.30 and 1:51.93, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Soren Dahl and Justin Ress earned a one, two finish in the men\u2019s 200 free, as Dahl touched the wall in 1:37.21 to mark a NCAA \u2018B\u2019 standard time and Ress tabbed a mark of 1:39.34.<\/p>\n<p>Sprint specialists Bonnema and Bilis swept the men\u2019s and women\u2019s free events, as Bonnema posted an NCAA \u2018B\u2019 standard time and Casey Aquatic Center record in the 50 free after touching the wall in 22.62. Bilis posted the second-fastest time in the nation in the 50 as he also recorded a NCAA \u2018B\u2019 standard time of 19.83.<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s 100 free, Bonnema swam a time of 50.01 to win the event while Duffield and Nevalainen finished second and third to sweep the podium with marks of 50.38 and 50.62, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s team earned the top three spots in the 100 free, as Bilis earned another NCAA \u2018B\u2019 mark after stopping the clock in 43.80, while Held and Bonk narrowly finished behind their teammate with times of 44.38 and 44.49, in respective order.<\/p>\n<p><b>Backstroke<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The women swept the 100 backstroke as Ashlyn Koletic tabbed a NCAA \u2018B\u2019 standard time of 54.22 to win the event. Linsday Morrow and Courtney Caldwell rounded out the top three of the event with marks of 55.30 and 55.38, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Stuart and Andreas Schiellerup earned a one, two finish in the men\u2019s 100 back. Stuart recorded his first NCAA \u2018B\u2019 standard time of the season with a mark of 47.82 while Schiellerup posted a time of 48.50.<\/p>\n<p>Zevnik won the women\u2019s 200 back with a NCAA \u2018B\u2019 standard time of 1:58.35 while Morrow narrowly finished in second after stopping the clock at 2:00.65.<\/p>\n<p>Reigning ACC Champion Stuart posted the nation\u2019s fastest time in the men\u2019s 200 back, touching the wall in 1:43.37 to post a NCAA \u2018B\u2019 standard mark and a Casey Aquatic Center record.<\/p>\n<p><b>Breaststroke<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Brumbaum swept the women\u2019s breaststroke events, tabbing a NCAA \u2018B\u2019 standard time of 1:02.08 in the 100 breast, and a mark of 2:16.12 in the 200 breast.<\/p>\n<p>Derek Hren and Patrick Schwarzenbach finished second and third in the men\u2019s 100 breast after touching the wall in 55.46 and 57.68, respectively, while Christian McCurdy and Schwarzenbach finished second and third in the men\u2019s 200 breast with times of 2:02.54 and 2:03.63, in respective order.<\/p>\n<p><b>Butterfly<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Lydia Jones finished second in the women\u2019s 200 butterfly with a time of 2:03.19 while Morgan Carr placed third in the event with a mark of 2:03.40.<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s 200 fly, McCurdy posted the third-fastest time in the country with a NCAA \u2018B\u2019 standard time of 1:45.27 to win the event.<\/p>\n<p>Yuri Nakano tabbed her first NCAA \u2018B\u2019 mark of the season as she won the women\u2019s 100 fly after stopping the clock at 54.18, while Koletic narrowly finished second in the event with a time of 54.80.<\/p>\n<p>Dahl took first in the men\u2019s 100 fly after posting a NCAA \u2018B\u2019 standard time of 48.29.<\/p>\n<p><b>Individual Medley<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Zevnik took first in the women\u2019s 200 individual medley after recording a mark of 2:03.11, while Justin Ress tabbed a NCAA \u2018B\u2019 standard time in the men\u2019s 200 IM after touching the wall in 1:48.90 to win his respective event.<\/p>\n<p><b>Springboard Action<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Rachel Mumma swept the women\u2019s diving events, as broke her school record in the one-meter dive after posting a six-dive score of 343.35 and recorded a score of 305.85 in the three-meter competition.<\/p>\n<p><b>Up Next<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s team will make its trip to the west coast, as the Pack will match up with Cal-Berkeley on\u00a0Nov. 6\u00a0and Stanford on\u00a0Nov. 7. The meet\u00a0is set to begin at\u00a06 p.m. ET, and\u00a0Saturday\u2019s\u00a0head-to-head competition is slated for a\u00a03 p.m. ET start.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Florida State Press Release:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Florida State swimming and diving teams fell to NC State\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_808836769\">on Saturday<\/span>at the Wilils R. Casey Aquatics Center (women 200-99, men \u2013 197-101).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been a hard week of training,\u201d FSU head coach Frank Bradley said. \u201cSome kids responded and conquered the challenge this weekend and I am happy to see some of our athletes step up when they\u2019re faced with adversity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Junior Jason Coombs won both of the 100 (55.22) and 200 (2:02.43) breast events, before taking second in the 200 IM with a time of 1:49.72.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJason improved from last night,\u201d Bradley said. \u201cHe was much sharper and better today than he was yesterday. I was happy to see him step up when he was called upon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also continuing to shine for the Seminoles was sophomore Connor Kalisz, who posted a career best time in the 200 back of 1:45.08.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t say enough about Connor,\u201d Bradley said. \u201cHe just gets better and better every time he touched the water. I am very proud of him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In diving, the Seminoles produced a sweep on the men\u2019s side on both boards as sophomore Tyler Roberge dominated 1-meter (349.80) and 3-meter (391.57). Finishing second on both was senior Kalonji Cole and sophomore Cameron Johnson placed third.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was happy with those guys getting in there today and competing hard,\u201d FSU head diving coach John Proctor said. \u201cThey\u2019ve been training well and it was nice to see it all paying off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the women\u2019s side, freshman Meg Brown won the 200 fly with a time of 2:00.58 before placing second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.59.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore Natalie Pierce placed second in both the 100 (1:03.26) and 200 (2:19.64) breast events, while freshman Summer Finke and sophomore Alexi Smith added second place finishes of their own.
