ALDERSHOT, Britain, October 16. A high performance center for British synchronized swimming athletes was formally unveiled in Aldershot today, providing the British squad with a central base in the build-up to the 2012 London Olympic Games.<\/p>\n
Eleven swimmers aged between 17 and 24 are already living and training full-time at the Aldershot facility. Great Britain has never entered a full eight-woman synchro team to the Olympic Games, but with automatic host nation entry in 2012, the ambition is to enable the British synchro swimmers to compete with the best in the world come 2012.<\/p>\n
Aldershot is one of four venues currently being considered by the British Olympic Association (BOA) as the site of Team GB's preparation camp prior to the 2012 London Olympic Games, alongside Loughborough University, Millfield School and the University of Bath.<\/p>\n
