Truthfully, the fact that Talbot suggested that steroid use be legalized to equalize the playing field is a sad commentary. Not only is the legendary coach suddenly easing off his long-adopted stance, he's delivering a slap in the face to the athletes who have been cost Olympic medals by drug cheats. Really, do you think the athletes who lost out to the East Germans or Chinese – when those nations were at the top of their cheating – would appreciate such a thought?<\/p>\n
Talbot made his comments to the Sydney Morning Herald<\/I> and did claim that he wasn't a big fan of the move to legalize steroids. But, he went on to say that it is the way to go, and that wavering is unfortunate. Talbot indicated that the governing bodies of sports are not looking hard enough for drug use, instead choosing to ignore usage.<\/p>\n
"I really think the administrators of the sport don't want to know about it," Talbot told the newspaper. "They need to put their thinking caps on and find some other way and the only alternative being presented is to legalize drug-taking.
