After a focus on long course racing, day two of the tri-meet between Texas, Indiana, and Florida featured the usual dual meet races in short course yards.<\/p>\n
Texas’\u00a0Clark Smith,<\/strong> the reigning NCAA champion in the 500 free, won his signature event with a time of 4:21.95.\u00a0Jackson Miller<\/strong> of Indiana grabbed second in the event with a 4:26.37, while Florida’s\u00a0Arthur\u00a0<\/strong>Frayler\u00a0<\/b>was third with a 4:29.16.<\/p>\n Indiana’s\u00a0Blake Pieroni<\/strong> turned in a pair of wins in the short course format. Pieroni delivered his first win in the 200 free with a finishing time of 1:36.06, before besting\u00a0star Florida sprinter\u00a0Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> in the 100 free. Pieroni out-touched Dressel by a slim .01 to stop the clock at 43.69 over Dressel’s 43.70.<\/p>\n Dressel, the reigning NCAA Champion in the 50 free, claimed the win in his signature event with a 19.36, making him the only athlete under the 20 second mark.<\/p>\n Texas swept the men’s 200 fly with Joseph Schooling<\/strong> finishing first with a time of 1:45.78. Teammates\u00a0Will Glass<\/strong> (1:48.03) and\u00a0John Martens<\/strong> (1:48.50) joined him to round out the top three.<\/p>\n Schooling continued his success in the butterfly with a 46.97 win in the 100 fly. Teammate Jack Conger\u00a0<\/strong>and Dressel battled it out for the second place finish, but it was Conger who got his hand to the wall first. Conger finished with a 47.55 over Dressel’s 47.57.<\/p>\n Will Licon,<\/strong> the NCAA Champion in the 200 breaststroke,\u00a0gave Texas a win in that event with a time of 1:58.84, making him the only athlete in that event to swim under the 2-minute mark.<\/p>\n On the women’s side, Madisyn Cox <\/strong>(1:47.93)\u00a0and\u00a0Brooke Hansen<\/strong>\u00a0(1:49.41) of Texas finished first and third, respectively, in the women’s 200 free. Florida’s\u00a0Ashlee Linn<\/strong> was second with a time of 1:48.49.<\/p>\n Cox grabbed her second win of the day in the 200 breaststroke finishing with a 2:12.83. The Indiana duo of\u00a0Miranda Tucker<\/strong> (2:12.90) and\u00a0Lilly King<\/strong> (2:13.62) rounded out the top three.<\/p>\n Cox grabbed her third win of the meet in the 400 IM with a time of 4:15.00.<\/p>\n The women’s 100 back proved to be a quick race with all three of the top finishers touching within .34 seconds of each other.\u00a0Marie Chamberlain<\/strong> of Indiana stopped the clock first with a time of 55.01, while Florida teammates\u00a0Ashlee Linn<\/strong> and\u00a0Georgia-Mae Hohmann<\/strong>\u00a0battled for second. Linn got her hand on the wall a slim .04 ahead of Hohmann to finish second with a 55.31 over Hohmann’s 55.35.<\/p>\n Florida’s\u00a0Natalie Hinds\u00a0<\/strong>collected wins in both the 50 and the 100 free. Hinds bested the competition with a 22.90 in the 50 before turning in a time of 49.32 in the 100.<\/p>\n Strong races continued into the final events with the top three finishers in the 100 fly touching within .17 seconds of each other.
