On the men&#8217;s side it was USC that won finishing ahead of the Hawaii men 217-108.5.<\/p>\n<p><b>North Carolina State Press Release:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Capitalizing on its first day of success in Los Angeles, the NC State women&#8217;s swimming and diving team held off host Southern California and Hawai\u2019i in its two-day tri-meet\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1908085575\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Saturday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0morning at Uytengsu Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n<p>The Wolfpack starts off its dual season with a perfect 2-0 mark, while the Trojans, who finished eighth at the 2015 NCAA Championships, move to 2-1 and the Rainbow Wahine fall to an 0-2 mark on the regular season.<\/p>\n<p>In head-to-head match ups, NC State earned a 190-144 victory over Southern Cal and a 257.5-74.5 triumph over Hawai\u2019i. Collectively, the Pack earned wins in 13 of the 18 events contested over the two-day period.<\/p>\n<p><b>Holloway\u2019s Statement<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was a great win for our ladies this weekend. Southern Cal and Hawai\u2019i are both well-coached teams, so coming out with two wins is a great accomplishment,\u201d said head coach Braden Holloway. \u201cSouthern Cal came out today ready to compete, but the ladies were able to fight and hold them off. We had a lot of people, especially freshmen, step up today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a great team effort across the board- everyone did their job and the win was the result. Hats off as well to the energy they all brought this morning. Starting a meet at\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1908085576\"><span class=\"aQJ\">8 a.m.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0isn&#8217;t the easiest thing to do, but they managed to stay positive the whole morning and race hard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow it\u2019s time to analyze our weekend, enjoy the rest of our time in California and get back to work to prepare for our dual meet against Florida State next weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Wolfpack Relays<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Dominating once again on the west coast in the relay events, the Wolfpack women swept\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1908085577\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Saturday\u2019s<\/span><\/span>\u00a0relays, earning wins in the 400 medley and 200 freestyle relays.<\/p>\n<p>The team of Ashlyn Koletic, Kayla Brumbaum, Krista Duffield and Natalie Labonge recorded a mark of 3:40.50 to top the podium in the 400 medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>In the 200 free relay, the squad of Emmie Barnhill, Christine Kerr, Mariah Hamil and Caroline Estep touched the wall in 1:31.69 to win the event, while the quartet of Courtney Caldwell, Labonge, Lotta Nevalainen and Riki Bonnema finished third in the event with a mark of 1:34.54.<\/p>\n<p><b>Freestyle<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Pack took the second, third and fourth spots in the overall standings of the 100 free, as Bonnema notched a time of 50.12 to place second and Nevalainen and Caldwell recorded marks of 50.76 and 50.91, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In the 500 free, Rachel Muller took the runner up spot after recording a time of 4:52.09, while Kristin Connors finished fourth with a mark of 4:58.54.<\/p>\n<p><b>Backstroke<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Alexia Zevnik managed to sweep the backstroke events on the weekend, as she notched a win in the 200 back\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1908085578\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Saturday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0after touching the wall in 1:57.35. Her mark was enough to tab her second NCAA \u2018B\u2019 standard time on the season.<\/p>\n<p><b>Breaststroke<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Brumbaum finished second in the 200 breaststroke after stopping the clock at 2:15.69 to also tab her second NCAA \u2018B\u2019 standard time of the year.<\/p>\n<p><b>Butterfly\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>NC State earned a strong one, two finish in the 100 butterfly as Koletic and Duffield touched the wall in 54.90 and 55.29, respectively.<\/p>\n<p><b>Individual Medley<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Wolfpack also tabbed a one, two finish in the 200 individual medley, as Zevnik finished first with a time of 2:01.81 and Morrow followed with a mark of 2:04.14.<\/p>\n<p><b>Springboard Action<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Rachel Mumma lead the Pack again from the springboard as she won the three-meter dive with a six-dive total of 303.40. Her score is enough for a NCAA Zone B qualifying standard mark.<\/p>\n<p><b><br \/>\nUp Next<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Pack will return home to prepare for its dual meet next weekend when it hosts Florida State\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1908085579\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Oct. 24<\/span><\/span>\u00a0inside Casey Aquatic Center. The matchup is slated for an\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1908085580\"><span class=\"aQJ\">11 a.m.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0start.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>USC Press Release:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The USC men\u2019s swimming and diving team, led by a pair of wins by junior\u00a0Michael Domagala, defeated Hawaii, 217-108.5, on Saturday (Oct. 17) after completing the second day of a two-day meet at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.<\/p>\n<p>The Trojans, who improved to 3-0 on the young season, opened the meet with a win in the 400y medley relay as senior Jeffrey Swanston, junior\u00a0Steven Stumph, freshman Cash DeLoache\u00a0and senior\u00a0Morten Klarskov\u00a0won in 3:22.29.<\/p>\n<p>Domagala followed with a win in the 100y free in 45.25 while freshman\u00a0Kyle Grissom\u00a0was third (46.38).<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore\u00a0Jon Knox\u00a0led a 1-2-3 finish in the 200y back with a 1:49.84 with sophomore Jason O\u2019Brien second (1:53.73) and sophomore\u00a0Scott Clausen\u00a0third (1:55.30). Stumph won the 200y breast in 2:02.04, leading another USC sweep with sophomore\u00a0Jonah Hu\u00a0second (2:04.49) and freshman\u00a0Billy Monjay\u00a0third (2:07.70).<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore\u00a0Pawel Furtek\u00a0won the 500y free in 4:26.89 with junior teammate\u00a0Reed Malone\u00a0second (4:31.34).<\/p>\n<p>Senior\u00a0Maclin Davis\u00a0led USC in the 100y fly in second (50.95) with DeLoache third (51.32). Domagala next won his second race, claiming the 200y IM in 1:49.28, 0.19 off an NCAA \u2018B\u2019 cut.
