Lindsay Moore<\/strong>, a former national champion in one-meter diving, has chosen\u00a0a new leadership path with the Roger Williams University Hawks.\u00a0Moore\u00a0<\/strong>had seven years of diving under her belt before she began her coaching career. She\u00a0graduated from Springfield College in 2003 with a degree in movement and sports studies.<\/p>\n

At Springfield College, she was an eight-time All American as well as the Springfield College Individual Female Athlete of the Year all four years, five-time Conference Champion, NCAA Champion and four-time NCAA Division III national runner up. In 2012, she was inducted into the Springfield College Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n

This season will mark\u00a013 years of coaching for Moore. She was first a diving coach at the Grist Mill Pool Club in Seekonk, Massachusetts before spending 12 years as the head diving coach at University of Rhode Island.<\/p>\n

Moore had taken a year off in between University of Rhode Island and Roger Williams University. \u201cI focused on my other career working for a chiropractor doing deep tissue and sports massage therapy,\u201d Moore said.<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cIt was then this past summer that Coach Matt Emmert<\/strong> contacted me and set up a meeting to talk about being the diving coach. After talking with him, hearing how many divers there would be, and the practice and meet schedule, my interest in getting back into diving was piqued. I though about it and decided that Roger Williams sounded like the right kind of program and school for me to get back into coaching.\u201d<\/p>\n

Even though the season has just begun Moore is enjoying coaching at Roger Williams. \u201cThe athletes are really nice and eager to learn so it makes it easy for me to enjoy working with them,\u201d Moore said.<\/p>\n

The program is still under construction at Roger Williams University. Moore\u2019s goals for the following year are to help the new female divers improve on their skills and new dives. For the guys, she wants to focus and improve their five lists so they can be ready for championships.<\/p>\n

Moore hasn\u2019t had anyone make it to NCAAs before, but said, \u201cIt would be very exciting if one of my divers would be able to qualify for championships.\u00a0My greatest accomplishment as a coach thus far would have to be having my divers make top 8 (at A-10 Championships),\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Connor Lautenschlager<\/strong> is a sophomore this year at Roger Williams University. After not having a coach his freshman year he said it’s nice to have someone there. “She is working well with the new divers and she invests her time wisely,” Lautenschlager said.\u00a0“She’s spends valuable time teaching the new divers the essentials before they move on to harder dives.”<\/p>\n

Rodger Williams has a total of five divers this season. Some are just beginning their diving career, while others have had years of practice and experience.<\/p>\n

Lautenschlager has been diving for five years. “I have a little more freedom than some of the other divers. She knows I’m capable of a lot, so she gives me two categories of dives to work on for one practice, and while I work on those, she gives me great feedback and how I can improve them,” Laughtenschlager said.<\/p>\n

“I’m excited to see what this year has to offer. I have high goals and with Coach Moore here– I have no doubt in my mind that I can achieve them.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
