Former University of Michigan standout\u00a0Brent Lang<\/strong> will be inducted into Michigan’s Hall of Honor on Friday night. Lang will join\u00a0former Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr, ice hockey player John Matchefts, and gymnast Elise Ray in this year’s Hall of Honor class.<\/p>\n

While at Michigan, Lang won four NCAA championships, two in the 50-meter free (1989, 1990) and two in the 100-meter free (1988, 1990). Lang also held a the school record in the 50-meter free for 23 years with a 19.36. His 100-meter free record time of 42.62 stood for four years. He nabbed six Big Ten individual titles and an NCAA All-America selection in each of his four seasons with the Wolverines. He was also a major contributor to Michigan’s four straight conference championships during his time in Ann Arbor.<\/p>\n

In 1988, Lang earned a gold medal at the Olympics in Seoul, South Korea by competing in the preliminary heats of the 4 x 100-meter free relay.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Lang was presented with the NCAA’s Silver Anniversary Award, which is given annually to six outstanding former student-athletes based on success in the athletics and professional realms.<\/p>\n

After graduating with a degree in industrial engineering, Lang started Vocera, a Silicon Valley communications technology company.<\/p>\n

The four inductees will be honored at halftime of the Michigan-Michigan State football game on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Michigan’s Hall of Honor was established in 1978 and includes a number of Olympians, NCAA Champions, and All-Americans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
