BURLINGTON, Vermont, October 2. EARL \u2018Lucky' Foreman has been added as an assistant coach to the University of Vermont swimming and diving staff. Catamount head coach Gerry Cournoyer made the announcement today.<\/p>\n
"I am thrilled that Earl has decided to return to coaching and choosing to do so at the University of Vermont," said Cournoyer. "Earl's experience and love of the sport will help our women continue to improve."<\/p>\n
Foreman brings an extensive coaching background to Vermont as he returns to the sport after recently spending time in the business world. He is an American Swim Coaches Association Level 5 Coach who was the United States Junior Team coach in Montreal, Canada in 1991. Foreman was also a coach on the 1989 Olympic Sports Festival Team and from 1985-90 placed swimmers in the top 25 in the world each year.<\/p>\n
Other accomplishments of the swimmers he has worked with include a bronze medal at the 1987 Pan American Games, a Senior National Champion in 1986, and has placed four swimmers on the U.S. Olympic Sports Festival Team.<\/p>\n
Foreman last coached the Greater Pensacola Aquatic Club in Florida from 1990-95, where he had more than 30 Junior and Senior National qualifiers. His other coaching experience includes stints with the Saddleback Valley Aquatics in El Toro, Calif., the Arlington Irving Swim Team in Irving, Texas, and with the Amarillo Aquatic Club Team in Amarillo, Texas.<\/p>\n
Foreman will look to help the Catamounts continue to improve as they are coming off an 11-5 campaign that also saw a 3-1 America East record. Last season Vermont also set new school records for points at both the conference and ECAC Championships.<\/p>\n
