{"id":156430,"date":"2015-10-09T07:55:41","date_gmt":"2015-10-09T14:55:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=156430"},"modified":"2015-10-09T07:55:41","modified_gmt":"2015-10-09T14:55:41","slug":"florida-swimming-vanquishes-vanderbilt-on-the-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/florida-swimming-vanquishes-vanderbilt-on-the-road\/","title":{"rendered":"Florida Swimming Vanquishes Vanderbilt On the Road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Florida swimming team started their dual meet portion of the season with a road trip to compete against fellow Southeastern Conference team Vanderbilt University, and won decisively 193-69.<\/p>\n<p>The Gators were able to win every event except the 100 breaststroke, where Vanderbilt\u2019s <strong>Kathryn Coughlin<\/strong> held off <strong>Hannah Burns<\/strong> with a 1:04.64 to Burns\u2019 1:04.86.<\/p>\n<p>Florida swept the top three places in five events. <strong>Taylor Katz<\/strong> led things off with a 10:10.53 in the 1000 free, with teammates <strong>Autumn Fink<\/strong> (10:14.02) and Burns (10:18.94) not far behind. In the very next event, the 200 freestyle, <strong>Natalie Hinds<\/strong> put up a 1:49.56 to win by three seconds over <strong>Georgia Marris<\/strong>. Florida\u2019s <strong>Jessica Thielmann<\/strong> wrapped up the sweep with a 1:53.36.<\/p>\n<p>The 100 freestyle gave <strong>Mollie Pulte<\/strong> the win by six hundredths of a second over <strong>Amelia Maughan<\/strong>, 51.75 to 51.81. Just five tenths behind Maughan was <strong>Elisavet Panti<\/strong> with a 52.30. Florida kept the streak going in the 200 backstroke, where <strong>Alyssa Yambor-Maul<\/strong> posted a 2:01.75 to dominate the field. <strong>Sierra Kuhn<\/strong> finished second with a 2:04.12 and <strong>Chelsea Lawson<\/strong> took third in 2:05.17.<\/p>\n<p>The final 1-2-3 sweep for Florida came in the 200 IM, with <strong>Georgia Mae-Hohmann<\/strong> winning with a 2:04.04. She was never challenged, as <strong>Paige Scheriger<\/strong> took a distant second with a 2:07.43 and Thielmann was third with a 2:08.80.<\/p>\n<p>Other wins for Florida included:<\/p>\n<p>\uf06e\tHohmann leading a 1-2 finish in the 100 back with a 54.98 to <strong>Sydney Sells\u2019<\/strong> 55.80;<br \/>\n\uf06e\tYambor-Maul winning the 200 fly with a 2:01.45, beating the 2:03.43 by Vanderbilt\u2019s <strong>Kayla Moran<\/strong>;<br \/>\n\uf06e\tMaughan winning the 50 free over Pulte, 23.87 to 24.17;<br \/>\n\uf06e\tScheriger taking the 200 breast with a 2:18.63 as teammate Burns placed second in 2:20.37;<br \/>\n\uf06e\tFinke taking the 500 free with a 5:00.93, beating teammate <strong>Tyla Martin<\/strong> by nearly nine seconds;<br \/>\n\uf06e\tHinds winning the 100 fly in 54.93 by a second over Vanderbilt\u2019s <strong>Breanna Sapienza<\/strong>;<br \/>\n\uf06e\tA 3:45.20 to win the 400 medley relay to start the meet and a 1:35.06 to take the 200 free relay.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/results\/2015-vanderbilt-women-vs-florida-dual-meet\/ncaa-college\/2015\/October\/8\">2015 Vanderbilt Women vs. Florida Dual Meet &#8211; Results<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Florida swimming team started their dual meet portion of the season with a road trip to compete against fellow Southeastern Conference team Vanderbilt University, and won decisively 193-69.
