France’s Charlotte Bonnet<\/strong>\u00a0and Poland’s Anna Dowgiert<\/strong> lowered meet records on night two of\u00a0the 2015 World Military Games.<\/p>\n

Bonnet closed out the women’s 100-meter free final in a time of 54.95. \u00a0That swim cleared the previous meet record of 55.22 set by Shan Ying<\/strong> in 1999. \u00a0Russia’s Viktoria Andreeva<\/strong> snared second in 56.22 with Brazil’s Graciele Herrmann<\/strong> earned third in 56.47.<\/p>\n

Dowgiert raced her way to a 26.11 in the women’s 50-meter fly to jump to 18th in the world rankings. \u00a0That swim beat the 26.18 meet record set by Melanie Henique<\/strong> back in 2014. \u00a0Russia’s Svetlana Chimrova<\/strong> finished second in 26.23 with Henique taking third in 26.35.<\/p>\n

Russia’s Evgeny Lagunov<\/strong> won the men’s 100-meter free in 49.85, more than a second back of Ning Zetao’s<\/strong> meet record of 48.46 from last year. \u00a0Egypt’s Mohamed Hassan<\/strong> took second in 50.03 with Brazil’s Nicolas Oliveira<\/strong> earning third in 50.19.<\/p>\n

Ning, the favorite in the men’s 100-meter free, scratched finals for an as of yet unreported reason. \u00a0Ning, the top-ranked swimmer in the world in the 100 with a 47.84 from the World Championships, had a tough time in prelims with a 51.14 but still qualified for finals.<\/p>\n

Ning was set to compete in eight events this weekend, including a full load of relay action.<\/p>\n

China’s Qiao Zhongyi<\/strong> just missed the meet record in the men’s 1500-meter free with a time of 15:14.21. \u00a0That swim came up short of Spyridon Gianniotis’<\/strong> 15:14.14 from 2009. South Korea’s Baek Seung Ho<\/strong> finished second in 15:21.83 with Russia’s Sergey Bolshakov<\/strong> placing third in 15:33.71.<\/p>\n

Brazil’s Nicholas dos Santos<\/strong> also just came up short of the men’s 50-meter fly meet record with a time of 23.30. \u00a0That swim was off Jernej Godec’s<\/strong> time of 23.25 from 2009, and not too far off Santos’ second-ranked time of 22.90 from the Maria Lenk Trophy. Brazil’s Henrique Martins<\/strong> took second in 23.62 with Russia’s Nikita Konovalov<\/strong> placing third in 23.85.<\/p>\n

China’s Fu Haifeng<\/strong> topped the men’s 400-meter IM in a time of 4:20.74. \u00a0That swim was well off Yannick Lebherz’s<\/strong> 2014 meet record of 4:18.56. \u00a0Russia’s Alexander Tikhonov<\/strong> touched second in 4:21.21 with Poland’s Karol Stefan Zaczynski<\/strong> snared third in 4:23.90.<\/p>\n

Russia’s Nikita Konovalov, Oleg Kostin, Evgeny Koptelov and Evgeny Lagunov<\/strong> raced their way to a 3:37.95 to win the men’s 400-meter medley relay. \u00a0That time blasted the meet record of 3:38.32 set by Italy back in 2009.<\/p>\n

China’s Song Yutong, Suo Ran, Liu Lan and Liu Yiru<\/strong> captured the women’s 400-meter medley relay in a time of 4:07.27.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
