SWIMMINGWORLD.TV was on shore for the start of the La Jolla Rough Water Swim yesterday.  The event has been a summertime tradition since 1916 with 2,532 athletes competing this year.<\/p>\n<p>Watch Brenda Villa, Captain of the USA Women&#39;s Water Polo Team, Olympic silver medalist in 2000 and bronze medalist in 2004, and past participant in the La Jolla Rough Water Swim explain the event to the viewers. Listen as she interviews some of the athletes and winners.<\/p>\n<p>Fran Crippen (18:47) followed by Mark Warkentin ( 18:49) and Larsen Jensen (19:07), took the top three men&#39;s honors for the one mile triangular course.  Micha Burden (20:12), Amy Dantzler (22:32) and Katelyn Schumacher (23:50) claimed the gold, silver and bronze for the women.<\/p>\n<p>Crippen and Warkentin both jumped back in to race the 3 mile swim with less than an hour rest to clock a 54:10 and 54:17 respectively.
