{"id":155305,"date":"2015-10-06T11:33:07","date_gmt":"2015-10-06T18:33:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=155305"},"modified":"2015-10-06T16:04:41","modified_gmt":"2015-10-06T23:04:41","slug":"phiangkhwan-pawapotako-asian-age-group-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/phiangkhwan-pawapotako-asian-age-group-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"Phiangkhwan \u201cEing\u201d Pawapotako Blitzes Competition At Asian Age Group Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.asiaswimmingfederation.org\/home.php\">8th Asian Age Group Championships<\/a> took place 1-7 October 2015 at Assumption University in Bangkok.<\/p>\n<p>Representing the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bisphuket.ac.th\/bisp-jsa-swim-academy\/\">BISP JSA Swim Academy<\/a>, part of the British International School, Phuket (BISP), were <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bisphuket.ac.th\/bisp-jsa-swim-academy\/team-roster\/\">Phiangkhwan \u201cEing\u201d Pawapotako<\/a>, swimming for Thailand, and Year 13 student <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bisphuket.ac.th\/bisp-jsa-swim-academy\/team-roster\/\">Jeremy Lim<\/a>, part of Team Philippines. Accompanying them was Head Coach <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/simon-jones-leading-asian-swimming-resurgence\/\">Simon Jones<\/a>, who was named coach for the Thailand swim team at the championships.<\/p>\n<p>Eing was first to shine in the pool on day one of the competition, winning gold in the Women&#8217;s 50m breaststroke in a new Thailand national record time of 33.22 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>On day two of racing, she then won her second gold in the Women&#8217;s 100m Breaststroke in a new Thailand national record of 1min 10.80, followed by silver in the Women&#8217;s 200m IM in a new personal best time of 2min 17.31.<\/p>\n<p>On the third day, Eing took the honours in the 200m Breaststroke, winning in a time of 2min 32.34, and just a few minutes later taking a 4th place finish in the Women&#8217;s 400m IM in a 4min 53.81.<\/p>\n<p>Later that same day, Eing took a bronze in the Women&#8217;s 200m Backstroke with a time of 2min 20.71 behind China&#8217;s gold medalist, and South East Asian (SEA) Games starlet Nguyen Vien Thi Ann, from Vietnam.<\/p>\n<p>On the final day of racing, Eing added another bronze medal to her collection in the Women&#8217;s 100m Backstroke in a time of 1min 04.78, bringing her total to three golds, one silver and two bronze medals at this competition.<\/p>\n<p>Though proud of his swimmers&#8217; achievements, Coach Jones lamented the fact that more medals could have been won.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHad BISP had a few more of its swimmers selected by their countries, we could have also added to our silverware with a number of golds, silvers and bronzes there for the taking, well within our teams abilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese championships were a great meet overall and served as a chance to race some of Asia\u2019s finest age group swimmers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe opportunity to race some strong competitors, of equal age, early on in the season was a confidence boost for us, and all after just six weeks of aerobic base training so far.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongrats are also extended to BISP swimmer Jeremy Lim who posted a 2min 12 in the Men\u2019s 200m Butterfly, and a 57.46 in the 100m event, starting his final year of high school on the right foot as he sets his eyes on SEA Age Championships in December\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?s=British+International+School%2C+Phuket\">Click here<\/a> to read more <em>Swimming World<\/em> stories about the British International School, Phuket.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about the BISP JSA Swim Academy, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bisphuket.ac.th\/bisp-jsa-swim-academy\">bisphuket.ac.th\/bisp-jsa-swim-academy<\/a>, follow the team\u2019s Facebook page at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/swimphuket\">facebook.com\/swimphuket<\/a>, or contact Head Coach Simon Jones: <a href=\"mailto:aquatics@bisphuket.ac.th\">aquatics@bisphuket.ac.th<\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>British International School contributed to this article.\u00a0To reach our audience with news, contact us at <a href=\"mailto:newsmaster@swimmingworldmagazine.com\"> newsmaster@swimmingworldmagazine.com<\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 8th Asian Age Group Championships took place 1-7 October 2015 at Assumption University in Bangkok.
