Women’s 100 free<\/strong><\/p>\n Australia’s Cate Campbell<\/strong> won this event for the second time during a meet held in Singapore, alongside her triumph in 2013. Also, for the fourth time this year, she and her sister Bronte Campbell<\/strong> won gold and silver in the 100-meter free.<\/p>\n Cate\u00a0topped finals in 53.09 with Bronte earning silver in 53.58. \u00a0Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> rounded out the top three in 54.23.<\/p>\n USA’s Madison Kennedy<\/strong> (54.81) and Missy Franklin<\/strong> (55.14) placed fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n Men’s 200 free<\/strong><\/p>\n Australia’s Dan Smith<\/strong> earned his fourth straight gold medal in the men’s 200-meter free with a time of 1:48.15. \u00a0He’s just the fifth swimmer to do so on a single FINA World Cup tour alongside\u00a0Pieter van den Hoogenband<\/strong> (NED, 5 in 2002), Ryk Neethling<\/strong> (RSA, 6 in 2005-06), Oussama Mellouli<\/strong> (TUN, 4 in 2008) and Thomas Fraser-Holmes<\/strong> (AUS, 6 in 2013-14)<\/p>\n Japan’s Masato Sakai<\/strong> checked in with a silver-winning time of 1:51.07 alongside\u00a0Singapore’s Yeo Kai Quan<\/strong> who shared the silver with a 1:51.07 as well.<\/p>\n Singapore’s Pang Sheng Jun<\/strong> (1:53.73) and USA’s Austin Phillips<\/strong> (1:55.26) took fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n Women’s 50 breast<\/strong><\/p>\n Jamaica’s Alia Atkinson<\/strong> captured her sixth career gold medal in a FINA World Cup meet in Singapore. \u00a0That’s her 31st career World Cup gold medal as she won the sprint breast in 30.74.<\/p>\n Australia’s Sally Hunter<\/strong> finished second in 31.50 with USA’s Micah Lawrence<\/strong> earning third in 31.66.<\/p>\n Malaysia’s Phee Jing En<\/strong> (32.01) and Singapore’s Roanne Ho<\/strong> (32.08) finished fourth and fifth, while Russia’s Vitalina Simonova<\/strong> wound up sixth in 32.53.<\/p>\n Men’s 100 breast<\/strong><\/p>\n South Africa’s Cameron van der Burgh<\/strong>, the men’s points leader, captured his ninth FINA World Cup gold medal this season, just one shy of his career best 10 in 2008.<\/p>\n Van der Burgh won the 100-meter breast in a time of 59.38 with USA’s Kevin Cordes<\/strong> collecting second-place honors in 1:00.81.<\/p>\n China’s Li Xiang<\/strong> snared third in 1:01.03 with Australia’s Matthew Treloar<\/strong> (1:01.31) and Tommy Sucipto<\/strong> (1:01.52) taking fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n Men’s 100 fly<\/strong><\/p>\n Japan’s Masato Sakai<\/strong> won his sixth FINA World Cup gold medal this year with a 53.53 in the men’s 100-meter fly. \u00a0That’s the second best tally in a single circuit for a Japanese swimmer behind Daiya Seto’s<\/strong> 11 wins in 2012.<\/p>\n Russia’s Viacheslav Prudnikov<\/strong> snared second-place honors in 53.66 with Singapore’s Zheng Wen Quah<\/strong> tying Prudnikov with a 53.66 as well.<\/p>\n Russia’s Aleksandr Kudashev<\/strong> (53.80) and Australia’s Nic Brown<\/strong> (53.94) took fourth and fifth with Canada’s Santo Condorelli<\/strong> earning sixth in 54.43.<\/p>\n Women’s 100 back<\/strong><\/p>\n Australia’s Emily Seebohm<\/strong> kept her perfect record in the 100-meter back this year intact with a 58.72 time to win her fifth straight gold medal. \u00a0She’s still on pace to match Katinka Hosszu’s<\/strong> 2014 sweep of the event.<\/p>\n Hosszu, meanwhile, picked up silver in 1:00.07 with USA’s Missy Franklin<\/strong> taking third in 1:00.73.<\/p>\n Hong Kong’s Claudia Lau<\/strong> placed fourth in 1:02.34 with Colombia’s Carolina Colorado<\/strong> snagging fifth in 1:02.51.<\/p>\n Men’s 50 back<\/strong><\/p>\n Australia’s Ashley Delaney<\/strong> checked in with a top time of 25.30 for the sprint backstroke victory. \u00a0Singapore’s Zheng Wen Quah<\/strong> collected his second silver of the night with a time to 25.50.<\/p>\n Japan’s Yuki Shirai<\/strong> rounded out the top three in 25.91, while Great Britain’s Marco Loughran<\/strong> finished fourth in 25.94.<\/p>\n Singapore’s Kevin Ong<\/strong> (26.93) and Malaysia’s Jian Han Tern<\/strong> (26.94) placed fifth and sixth.<\/p>\n Women’s 200 fly<\/strong><\/p>\n Hungary’s Zsuzsanna Jakabos<\/strong> won her third career 200-meter fly World Cup title with a time of 2:08.65. \u00a0She previously won the event in Beijing last week and also in 2012 in here in Singapore.<\/p>\n China’s Zhou Min<\/strong> placed second tonight in 2:12.70 with Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> collecting more podium cash with a third-place 2:13.99.<\/p>\n Hong Kong’s Hang Yu Sze<\/strong> (2:15.62) and Kin Lok Chan<\/strong> (2:17.98) snagged fourth and fifth-place efforts.<\/p>\n Men’s 200 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n Russia’s Semen Makovich<\/strong> became the fifth different winner of the 200 IM this year with a time of 2:01.76. That’s the first time since the 2007 event that five different swimmers have won gold in the 200 IM. \u00a0Makovich is this third Russian swimmer in this event alongside\u00a0Igor Berezutsky<\/strong> and Alexander Tikhonov<\/strong> in Moscow in 2006 and 2007.<\/p>\n Australia’s Kenneth To<\/strong> placed second in a time of 2:02.12 with Hungary’s David Verraszto<\/strong> earning third in 2:02.76.<\/p>\n South Africa’s Michael Meyer<\/strong> (2:03.23) and Japan’s Ippei Watanabe<\/strong> (2:04.53) finished fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n Women’s 400 free<\/strong><\/p>\n After losing this event to Guo Junjun<\/strong> in Beijing, Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> returned to gold medal status with a 4:12.00 with her sixth gold in the event. \u00a0That ties Spain’s Mireia Belmonte<\/strong> for third most in this event. \u00a0Camelia Potec<\/strong> (9) and Lindsay Benko<\/strong> (7) are the event leaders.<\/p>\n Hungary’s Zsuzsanna Jakabos<\/strong> finished second in 4:14.75 with Australia’s Jessica Pengelly<\/strong> earning third in 4:19.44.<\/p>\n Singapore’s Genevieve Lye<\/strong> (4:32.44) and Lee Shuen Tan<\/strong> (4:35.31) wound up fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n Men’s 50 free<\/strong><\/p>\n Japan’s Katsumi Nakamura<\/strong> won his third consecutive gold medal in this even with a 22.47. \u00a0Australia’s Kyle Chalmers<\/strong> placed second in 22.52 with Te Haumi Maxwell<\/strong> taking third in 22.68.<\/p>\n Australia’s Andrew Abood<\/strong> (22.88) and Canada’s Santo Condorelli<\/strong> (22.89) also cleared 23 seconds.<\/p>\n Women’s 200 breast<\/strong><\/p>\n After taking bronze in the 50-meter breast earlier in the evening, USA’s Micah Lawrence<\/strong> won her first World Cup gold medal with a time of 2:25.89.<\/p>\n Russia’s Vitalina Simonova<\/strong> placed second in 2:27.42 with Australia’s Sally Hunter<\/strong> earning third in 2:27.96.<\/p>\n Jamaica’s Alia Atkinson<\/strong> (2:35.76) and Malaysia’s Erika Kong<\/strong> (2:37.47) finished fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n Men’s 200 back<\/strong><\/p>\n Japan’s Yuki Shirai<\/strong> claimed his 10th career gold medal in the men’s 200-meter backstroke on the FINA World Cup circuit, tying Arkady Vyatchanin<\/strong> for the second most. \u00a0Randall Bal<\/strong> is the event leader with 14 golds in the event.<\/p>\n Shirai won in 1:57.96 with Australia’s Ashley Delaney<\/strong> taking second in 1:58.66. \u00a0Colombia’s Omar Pinzon<\/strong> earned third in 2:02.11.<\/p>\n Singapore’s Zheng Wen Quah<\/strong> (2:04.62) and South Africa’s Michael Meyer<\/strong> (2:05.44) placed fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n Women’s 50 fly<\/strong><\/p>\n Denmark’s Jeanette Ottesen<\/strong> won her ninth career gold in this event, tying Inge Dekker<\/strong> for the third most. She’s still well behind Sweden’s Therese Alshammar<\/strong> (37) and Anna-Karin Kammerling<\/strong> (11).<\/p>\n Ottesen won in 25.84 with Australia’s Holly Barratt<\/strong> taking second in 26.57. \u00a0France’s Melanie Henique<\/strong> tied Jamaica’s Alia Atkinson for third with 26.78s.<\/p>\n Hong Kong’s Hang Yu Sze<\/strong> finished fifth in 27.30.<\/p>\n Women’s 400 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> won her second gold medal of the night with a 4:37.30 in the 400 IM.
