PRETORIA, South Africa, August 30. ACCORDING to Super Swimmer, Ryk Neethling was denied access to train at Swimming South Africa's National Training Center last week. It was just the latest problem between Neethling and SSA, which has made life difficult for the countrymen who train in the United States. Also included in that group are Roland Schoeman, Lyndon Ferns and Darian Townsend.<\/p>\n
Neethling apparently went to the complex and was told he was not allowed to train, despite open lanes being available. He was told to contact Shaun Adriaanse, the CEO of Swimming South Africa. Adriaanse has declined to comment on the situation, but indicated that he would research the problem. Schoeman and Ferns have been told they cannot swim at the facility either, because they haven't signed a code of conduct.<\/p>\n
Neethling has signed a code of conduct, but only after some changes were made. Many of the issues surrounding the South African swimmers are connected to Dirk Lange, the National Team Coach who is not pleased that the top swimmers train in the United States and not in their homeland.
