Scout&#8217;s sister Katie, a freshman, is a member of the swim team at St. Charles North high school, one of the competing rival schools.<\/p>\n<p>The proceeds from the fundraiser go to support causes that Scout loved, such as animal shelters, but the primary benefactor is the Scout Cantrell Learn To Swim Program, which was started after receiving a grant from USA Swimming. The program offers free swim lessons to underprivileged children in the area who might not otherwise be able to afford them.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The For Scout Foundation\u00a0held a &#8220;Pink Out&#8221; fundraiser at a St. Charles swim meet on October 1.\u00a0 Swimmers from St. Charles North High School and St. Charles East High School donned pink swim caps in honor of Madison &#8220;Scout&#8221; Cantrell. The Cantrell family established the For Scout Foundation within the Community Foundation in 2015 in memory of nine-year-old Scout, who passed away on October 29, 2014 due to complications from an asthma attack.\u00a0 Scout was an avid swimmer and a member of St. Charles&#8217; swim team. Money raised by the fund goes toward the support of causes that were important to Scout, such as local animal shelters.
