{"id":155054,"date":"2015-10-03T05:09:53","date_gmt":"2015-10-03T12:09:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=155054"},"modified":"2015-10-03T05:09:53","modified_gmt":"2015-10-03T12:09:53","slug":"northern-michigan-swimming-sweeps-findlay-tiffin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/northern-michigan-swimming-sweeps-findlay-tiffin\/","title":{"rendered":"Northern Michigan Swimming Sweeps Findlay, Tiffin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Northern Michigan Press Release:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Northern Michigan men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s swimming and diving teams topped Findlay and Tiffin in a dominating performance Friday night at the PEIF Pool in front of 189 fans.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had a tremendous competition, and the pool felt electric,&#8221; head coach Heidi Voigt said. &#8220;The men and women raced very well.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s team posted 13 victories while the women&#8217;s team won nine events, highlighted by Molly Kearney qualifying for nationals in both the 1- and 3-meter dives.<\/p>\n<p>Marc Perell\u00f3 and Ryan Knox-Leonard set school and pool records. Perell\u00f3 clocked in at 26.82 in the 50 breastroke while Knox-Leonard timed in at 52.88 in the 100 IM.<\/p>\n<p>Leonard also set a school record in the 200 freestyle (1:41.84) while Perell\u00f3 (57.56) claimed the Wildcat top mark in the 100 breastroke.<\/p>\n<p>Joshua Cosgrove set a school record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.87 while the 200 freestyle relay of Grantas Dapkus, Benjamin Lindberg, Baris Kancoglu and Knox-Leonard took Northern Michigan&#8217;s top billing with a time of 1:27.91.<\/p>\n<p>Crystal Bennett won three events, the 100 breaststroke, 100 butterfly and 50 butterfly. Regan Kilburn earned her first collegiate wins in the 50 backstroke and 50 freestyle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Findlay Press Release:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The University of Findlay men and women&#8217;s swimming and diving teams kicked off their season on Oct. 2 in Marquette, Mich. against Northern Michigan University and Tiffin University. The women&#8217;s team came away with six first place finishes while the men secured two.<\/p>\n<p>On the women&#8217;s side, Amanda Stiegal captured first place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (54.95) and 200-yard freestyle (1:59.26).<\/p>\n<p>Emma Barnes had a hand in two wins as she claimed first place in the 500-yard freestyle (5:13.85) and teamed with Michelle Stefaniak, Jenna Dasher and Meri Cizmar to win the gold in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.32).<\/p>\n<p>Jessica Ward won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.62 and Kaley Holmstrom was the victor in the 100-yard IM at 1:03.58.<\/p>\n<p>Ward also finished second in the 100-yard butterfly (59.72), 50-yard butterfly (27.39) and teamed with Holmstrom, Cizmar and Stiegal to take the silver in the 200-yard medley relay (1:51.25).<\/p>\n<p>Barnes was second in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:57.85), Stiegal was the runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle (25.28) and Rachel Farmer finished second in the 100-yard IM (1:06.76).<\/p>\n<p>On the men&#8217;s side, Janko Radmanovic won two events to lead the way. He was the best in the 100-yard butterfly (51.35) and 50-yard butterfly (22.82). His time in the 50-yard butterfly set a new pool record.<\/p>\n<p>Radmanovic was also second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.70) and teamed with Diego Santos and Todo Djurovic and Ben Mayer to take the silver in the 200-yard medley relay (1:38.09).<\/p>\n<p>Djurovic took second in the 100-yard IM at 55.26, Kaleb Brown was second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.35) and Graham Rossi was the runner-up in the 1-meter dive at 182.55.<\/p>\n<p>Cody Craig was second in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 24.47 and teamed with Brown, Alex Matthews and Nick Kaftan to finish as the runner-up in the
