In May, Syracuse administrators announced that this season will be the last for both the men's and women's swimming teams as they will be replaced with a women's hockey program, as reported here<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The announcement has been met with a tremendous outcry of support from the Syracuse athletic supporters and the swimming community. A petition has been created that more than 3,600 supporters have signed to date, all asking for the reinstatement of the program. And, a new web site has been established over the past week. <\/p>\n

Visit SaveSyracuseSwimming.com<\/a> and sign up to be kept informed of efforts underway to attempt to preserve this program so rich with history and tradition. In addition to being a vehicle to be kept informed, the web site has cataloged the many news articles that have been written to date. Also, the site contains quotes from leaders of the swimming community such as Janet Evans, Gary Hall, Christina Teuscher and others. <\/p>\n
