For more information about Agon, visit their website <a href=http:\/\/www.agonswim.com target=_blank>AgonSwim.com<\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Victor Swim Club\u2019s <strong>Makayla Sargent<\/strong> has the potential to be a future star for Team USA in the individual medley events, and she\u2019s headed to the University of Florida next fall to continue to hone her talents.<\/p>\n<p>Sargent will work with head coach <strong>Gregg Troy<\/strong> in Gainesville, who helped <strong>Ryan Lochte<\/strong> and <strong>Elizabeth Beisel<\/strong> become Olympic medalists in the IM events in 2012. Troy\u2019s history with coaching great IM swimmers goes much further back than 2012, and could extend well into the future with Sargent\u2019s arrival in the fall of 2016.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I chose the University of Florida because of their outstanding academic reputation and to have the opportunity to work with coach Gregg Troy,&#8221; Sargent said. &#8220;Coach Troy&#8217;s program consistently develops great student-athletes and I am very excited to be able to train with them next fall. The club program that I come from values hard work, and I know that that will certainly continue at the University of Florida. I especially love the Gator team atmosphere. Everyone is working towards a common goal of excellence. I can&#8217;t wait to be a Florida Gator.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Sargent has made big inroads in the IMs. After a couple of years with a long course 400 IM lifetime best in the mid-4:50s, Sargent\u2019s best is now 4:49.26, which she swam on the way to third place at last summer\u2019s junior nationals. Though the 400 IM has been her best event, she\u2019s just as strong in the 200 IM. She swam a 2:17.54 for fifth place at juniors last summer.<\/p>\n<p>Sargent will swim both of those events at the Olympic Trials next year, as well as the 200 breast, thanks to a 2:34.74 lifetime best.<\/p>\n<p>Sargent could be a point scorer for the Gators at the conference championships very soon. She swam a 2:00.46 in the 200 IM in 2014 and 4:16.54 in the 400 IM last year as well for her current lifetime bests. As mentioned earlier, she has talents in the 200 breast as well with a 2:15.53 personal best.
