Hook &#39;em!! ? <a href=\"http:\/\/t.co\/QVCwqeeOOK\">pic.twitter.com\/QVCwqeeOOK<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Claire Adams (@claireadams26) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/claireadams26\/status\/648645978656903168\">September 28, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Adams made a big breakthrough this past summer at the USA Swimming nationals, winning the 100 and 200 backstrokes in San Antonio. Her 100 back stood out, as it <a href=http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/claire-adams-victorious-in-100-back-final-with-world-ranked-swim-at-usa-nationals\/ target=_blank>broke the junior world record<\/a> with a 59.58. That made her the ninth-fastest swimmer in the world in 2015, and third among Americans. Adams was a member of Team USA at the junior world championships, where she claimed a silver medal in the 100 backstroke.<\/p>\n<p>Adams is a part of the Carmel Swim Club, where she helped the team win the past two <i>Swimming World Magazine<\/i> national high school team titles. She was on the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay squads that set national high school records at last February\u2019s Indiana state championships.<\/p>\n<p>Though Adams made big strides this summer in the long course pool, she also has the potential to make a big impact for the Longhorns in short course. Her best time of 1:51.87 in the 200 back could put her in the top eight at the NCAA championships, while her best time of 51.99 in the 100 back would just miss the top eight.
