Arizona State\u2019s swimming and diving team got a big boost with a verbal commitment from Chloe Isleta<\/strong>, who has been a star swimmer in the San Francisco Bay area for many years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a GREAT time in Tempe Arizona that I committed to joining Bob Bowman, Misty Hyman, and the rest of the Sun Devil Swimming team!\u201d Isleta wrote on her Facebook page. \u201cThank you Coaches Bowman, Dan, Misty, Derek, Ryan, Tim, Natalie, Ray, Keenan, Alysha, and the entire team for the warmest reception! I am truly grateful for the opportunity and so PROUD to be a Sun Devil!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

Isleta represents Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics and won numerous Far Western titles as a preteen before segueing into the junior ranks. She competed in the backstrokes and individual medley races at this summer\u2019s junior national championships.<\/p>\n

Isleta will help the Sun Devils greatly in the individual medley events, where she holds Olympic Trials qualifying times of 2:18.39 in the 200 IM and 4:52.57 in the 400 IM. She\u2019s just five tenths of a second away from qualifying for Trials in the 100 backstroke, holding a lifetime best of 1:03.86 from the College Station sectionals last March. In the 200 back, she\u2019s six tenths from an Olympic Trials cut, with her lifetime best of 2:17.19.<\/p>\n

In the short course pool, Isleta could give Arizona State some big points, especially in the IM races. Her 400 IM would have made the top eight at the Pac 12 meet last season, while her 200 IM would have scored in the B final.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
