BANGKOK, Thailand, August 18. CHINA claimed the lion's share of diving gold medals at the World University Games held in Bangkok, Thailand this past week.<\/p>\n
Italy's Noemi Batki and Ukraine's Maria Voloshchenko gave the fans a thrill as they tied for gold in the women's one-meter.<\/p>\n
China's Zhang Xinhua captured a gold medal in the men's one-meter, while teammate Luo Yutong garnered silver. Ukraine's Yuriy Shlyakhov finished with bronze.<\/p>\n
The following day, China went 1-2 again as Peng Bo claimed gold in the men's three-meter and Luo finished with silver. Mexico's Roumel Aghued Pacheco rounded out the top three. Additionally, China's team of Peng and Zhang won the Synchro three-meter gold, while Russia's team of Artem Lvov and Alexander Gorshkov took silver and Ukraine's duo of Anton Zakharov and Dmytro Lysenko finished with bronze.<\/p>\n
That same day, the women competed from the platform. China's Lao Lishi won in the individual 10-meter event, with Mexico's Paola Milagros Espinosa earning silver and Japan's Mai Nakagawa taking bronze. In Synchro 10-meter action, Mexico's Espinosa and Tatiana Ortiz snagged gold, while Korea's In Sun Hong and Kum Hui Choe nabbed silver. Japan's Nakagawa and Misako Yamashita wound up with bronze.<\/p>\n
The final day of diving, China swept gold-silver in the men's 10-meter as Hu Jia and Wang Liang topped the rest of the field. Russia's Oleg Vikulov claimed bronze. In the 10-meter Synchro event, Russia's twosome of Vikulov and Konstantin Khanbekov snared gold, while China's pair of Wang and Zhou Xin pocketed silver and Korea's Yong Ryong Pak and Chol Jin Kim picked up bronze.<\/p>\n
The women closed out the meet on the three-meter. China's Li Ting took home the individual gold with the United States' Christina Loukas taking silver. Mexico's Espinosa wound up with bronze. In three-meter Synchro competition, Mexico's Espinosa and Laura Sanchez captured gold, while China's Li and Hou Yuanyuan took silver.
