THE WOODLANDS, Texas, August 11. THE second day of swimming at the United States Masters Swimming (USMS) Long Course National Championships concluded with eight more world records to move the meet total to 16. Meanwhile, five USMS standards fell for nine over the first two days.<\/p>\n
Margery Meyer, Laura Val and Susan Walsh shined during the second day as each set a pair of global standards. Meyer owned the women's 85-89 division with wins in the 50 (48.76) and 400 free (8:14.05), while Val set records in the women's 55-59 50 free (28.84) and 100 fly (1:10.21). Walsh also scored standards in the women's 45-49 50 free (27.44) and 200 back (2:34.80).<\/p>\n
Katie McClelland captured the oldest record during the day when she shot down Margaret Hohmann's 1988 record in the women's 30-34 100 breast. Hohmann set the mark at 1:14.52, while McClelland broke it with a time of 1:13.46 19 years later.<\/p>\n
