WHILE USA Swimming&#39;s version of the junior national championships has only been back in existence for a short time, the meet-record onslaught is still impressive at the Speedo Junior National Championships.  Seven more standard went into the record books as the assault continued during the fourth night of competition.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100 backstroke<\/b><br \/>\nBluefish&#39;s Elizabeth Beisel and West Michigan&#39;s Emily Bos both clipped Jennifer Connolly&#39;s meet-record time of 1:03.47 set a year ago, but Beisel won the head-to-head matchup, 1:03.35 to 1:03.42.<\/p>\n<p>Atlantis Aquatics&#39; Jessica Guro rounded out the top three after a tough race herself with a 1:03.75, narrowly holding off fourth-place finisher Taylor Wohrley of the CSP Tideriders (1:03.80).<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2007speedojuniorsw100backf.pdf target=_blank>Click here to view event results PDF file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 100 backstroke<\/b><br \/>\nDallas Mustang Matt Thompson edged his prelim meet-record time of 56.60 with a first touch of 56.30 in finals.  He knocked off <i>Swimming World Magazine&#39;s<\/i> High School Swimmer of the Year Austin Staab of Westerville, who finished second in 56.85.<\/p>\n<p>Thompson&#39;s teammate Max Murphy closed out the medalists with a bronze-winning 57.36.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2007speedojuniorsm100backf.pdf target=_blank>Click here to view event results PDF file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 400 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nBrophy East&#39;s Ashley Evans cut more than two seconds off her prelim meet-record time of 4:15.00 with a gold-winning readout of 4:12.77.  Mission Viejo&#39;s Chloe Sutton pocketed silver in 4:14.80, while Elizabeth Beisel returned from winning the 100 back to claim bronze in 4:15.15.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2007speedojuniorsw400freef.pdf target=_blank>Click here to view event results PDF file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 400 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nChad La Tourette&#39;s meet-record time of 3:55.17 held up where many others did not as Carolina Aquatics&#39; Mack Montgomery won the race in 3:59.98.<\/p>\n<p>Mecklenburg Aquatics&#39; Thomas Santoli (4:00.87) and Long Island Aquatics&#39; Tommy O&#39;Neill (4:01.01) comprised the rest of the top three.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2007speedojuniorsm400freef.pdf target=_blank>Click here to view event results PDF file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100 breaststroke<\/b><br \/>\nKasey Carlson&#39;s meet standard of 1:10.77 also remained on the books as Sara Nicponski came up just short with a winning time of 1:10.91.<\/p>\n<p>Sea Devil Swim&#39;s Ashley Danner touched second in 1:11.19, while Dallas Mustang Spindrift Beck wound up taking third in 1;11.32.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2007speedojuniorsw100breastf.pdf target=_blank>Click here to view event results PDF file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 100 breaststroke<\/b><br \/>\nAfter losing his previous meet record in prelims, Mission Viejo&#39;s John Criste returned fire with a 1:03.21 to re-capture the standard after Dillon Connolly took it with a 1:03.67 in qualifying.  Connolly, meanwhile, settled for silver in 1:03.39, while Barracuda Brad Craig claimed bronze in 1:04.04.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2007speedojuniorsm100breastf.pdf target=_blank>Click here to view event results PDF file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100 butterfly<\/b><br \/>\nHershey Aquatics&#39; Kati Nolan walked away with the women&#39;s 100 fly title in 1:01.19, while Gulf Coast Aquatics&#39; Kelsey Winters picked up second-place honors in 1:01.37. Kansas City Blazer Bobby Bollier came in third with a readout of 54.52 to round out the medal-winning trio.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2007speedojuniorsm100flyf.pdf target=_blank>Click here to view event results PDF file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 400 freestyle relay<\/b><br \/>\nSun Devil Aquatics&#39; B team of Haley Krakowski (57.43), Traycie Swartz (56.63), Emily Christiansen (59.32) and Samantha Caldwell (58.17) set the meet record with a time of 3:51.55 in the women&#39;s 400 free relay.
