World junior championship team member Lauren Case<\/strong> will take her butterfly talents to the University of Texas next fall, making a verbal commitment to swim for Carol Capitani<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Case could be a top-16 scorer at the 2017 NCAAs in the butterfly events. She currently holds short course yards lifetime bests of 52.81 and 1:56.31 in the 100 and 200 fly. Both swims would have put her just outside the top eight in each event, but it\u2019s likely Case will continue to improve in the next 18 months.<\/p>\n

Case\u2019s third event for the Longhorns might be the 500 free, where she holds a best time of 4:44.57. She will also be a big leader for the 800 free relay, thanks to her 1:45.96 lifetime best.<\/p>\n

In long course, we\u2019ll see Case in both butterfly events at the Olympic Trials, representing Chattahoochee Gold Swim Club. With lifetime bests of 59.40 and 2:11.06, she could get into at least the semifinals in both events. Case also has Trials cuts in the 200 free (1:59.67) and 400 free (4:15.28).<\/p>\n

Case was 10th in the 100 fly at this summer\u2019s world junior championships, and just missed out on the medals in the 400 medley relay and 800 free relay as the Americans finished fourth in both races. On the plus side, she did notch her lifetime best of 59.40 in Singapore at junior worlds.<\/p>\n

Case was also a part of the U.S. team that traveled to Ireland this past spring to participate in the Irish nationals. In the video below, she participates in an interview with teammate Carly Cummings:<\/p>\n
