SWIMMERS took on the 200 free and 400 IM during the third day of preliminary competition at the Speedo Junior National Championships held at the IU Natatorium at IUPUI.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 200 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nFinals of the women&#39;s 200 free should be a close one as the top six qualifiers all sit within a second of each other.<\/p>\n<p>West Florida Lightning Aquatics&#39; Claire Thompson led all preliminary swims with a time of 2:03.09, while Bluefish&#39; Elizabeth Beisel finished second in 2:03.55.<\/p>\n<p>Minot Swim Club&#39;s Dagny Knutson (2:03.58), Gator Swim Club&#39;s Jamie Bohunicky (2:03.61), Brophy East&#39;s Ashley Evans (2:03.71) and Trojan Swim&#39;s Mattea Perrotta (2:03.76) all posted 2:03 times to make up the top six performances.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2007speedojuniorsw200freep.pdf target=_blank>Click here to view event results PDF file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 200 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nMecklenburg Aquatics&#39; Thomas Santoli paced qualifying with a time of 1:52.45 in the men&#39;s 200 free.  Meanwhile, Team Foxjet&#39;s Curt Carlson took second in 1:53.41, while FAST&#39;s Patrick White placed third in 1:54.10.  SoNoCo&#39;s Eric Ress picked up fourth in 1:54.35.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2007speedojuniorsm200freep.pdf target=_blank>Click here to view event results PDF file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 400 IM<\/b><br \/>\nBluefish&#39;s Elizabeth Beisel easily topped preliminary action with a time of 4:51.52, just off the meet-record effort of 4:51.32 set by Jessica Schmitt in Irvine in 2005.<\/p>\n<p>Aquazot&#39;s Lyndsay De Paul (4:54.70), Parkland Aquatics&#39; Breanna Folk (4:56.47) and The Claremont Club&#39;s Noelle Tarazona (4:57.37) will give chase to Beisel as the rest of the top four.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2007speedojuniorsw400IMp.pdf target=_blank>Click here to view event results PDF file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 400 IM<\/b><br \/>\nDallas Mustang Matt Thompson will be gunning for Tyler Clary&#39;s meet-record time of 4:26.42 this evening after claiming lane four with a 4:29.00 in prelims.
