THE Speedo Junior National Championships witnessed another meet-record night, this time during the second evening of competition at the IU Natatorium at IUPUI.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nPirate Aquatics&#39; Karlee Bispo won a tough head-to-head battle over Arlington Aquatics&#39; Katie Radloff, 56.78 to 56.92, to win the first junior national title on offer during the second night of swimming.  Sun Devil Aquatics&#39; Traycie Swartz went out the fastest with a 27.27 split, but did not have enough left in the tank and fell to third in 57.00.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2007speedojuniorsw100freef.pdf target=_blank>Click here to view event results PDF file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 100 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nAfter Tualatin Hills&#39; Morgon Henderson-Kunz set the meet record with a time of 51.08, he set himself up in position to drop the time below the 51-second barrier.  While Henderson-Kunz did just that with a time of 50.84, <i>Swimming World Magazine&#39;s<\/i> High School Swimmer of the Year Austin Staab of Westerville Aquatics joined him as the pair tied.  <\/p>\n<p>Henderson-Kunz had to make up nearly half-a-second after the turn as Staab touched in 24.56 compared to Henderson-Kunz&#39; 24.98 (the fifth-fastest 50).<\/p>\n<p>Dubuque Area&#39;s Jordan Huff rounded out the top three in 51.41.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2007speedojuniorsm100freef.pdf target=_blank>Click here to view event results PDF file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 200 breaststroke<\/b><br \/>\nBluefish&#39;s Laura Sogar kept the meet-record roll going after taking the standard below 2:32 in the women&#39;s 200 breast.  Sogar touched in 2:31.94 to eclipse the 2:32.58 set by Kasey Carlson last year in Irvine.<\/p>\n<p>Denver Hilltopper Ellie Freeman placed second in 2:33.20, while Dallas Mustang Spindrift Beck grabbed third in 2:33.33.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2007speedojuniorsw200breastf.pdf target=_blank>Click here to view event results PDF file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 200 breaststroke<\/b><br \/>\nMission Viejo&#39;s John Criste nearly brought the meet standard from the 2:18s right into the 2:16s with a winning effort of 2:17.18.  That performance surpassed the 2:18.26 set by Bradley Craig on Irvine last year.<\/p>\n<p>Craig, swimming for Barracuda, also swam faster than the meet record but settled for second in 2:17.41.  Marietta Marlin Dillon Connolly placed third in 2:18.30.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2007speedojuniorsm200breastf.pdf target=_blank>Click here to view event results PDF file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 200 backstroke<\/b><br \/>\nBluefish&#39;s Elizabeth Beisel shaved more than a second off her prelim meet-record swim of 2:13.30 with a winning time of 2:12.20 as she waltzes away with the junior national title.<\/p>\n<p>Fort Lauderdale Aquatics&#39; Lauren Driscoll owned second place with a time of 2:16.33, while Dallas Mustang Meredith Monroe claimed third in 2:18.02.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2007speedojuniorsw200backf.pdf target=_blank>Click here to view event results PDF file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 200 backstroke<\/b><br \/>\nDallas Mustang Matt Thompson demolished his meet-record time of 2:03.00 set in Irvine last year as he nearly went sub-2:00 with a first-place effort of 2:00.50.  Thompson went out fast and never looked back as he had a full second lead over the pack after the initial 50 meters. <\/p>\n<p>SoNoCo&#39;s Eric Ress also swam faster than the previous record with a second-place time of 2:02.30, but did not even come close to Thompson at the finish.  Meanwhile, Peddie&#39;s Derick Chui finished third in 2:05.07 as he just held off Bluefish&#39;s Chris Rogers (2:05.38).<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2007speedojuniorsm200backf.pdf target=_blank>Click here to view event results PDF file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 200 butterfly<\/b><br \/>\nAbbie Fish of Lakeside held on to an early lead to capture a wire-to-wire victory over Aquazot&#39;s Lyndsay De Paul and Cy-Fair Swim Club&#39;s Cammile Adams.  Fish touched in 2:12.00, as De Paul needed just a few more inches to make up the difference with a second-place 2:12.03.  Adams placed just behind in a 2:12.04.<\/p>\n<p>All three marks erased the previous meet record, but Fish&#39;s knocked exactly a second off the 2:13.00 set by Natalie Adams in Irvine a year ago.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2007speedojuniorsw200flyf.pdf target=_blank>Click here to view event results PDF file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 200 butterfly<\/b><br \/>\nArlington Alligator Sam Wilcher came from behind to snatch the men&#39;s 200 fly record in a time of 2:00.95, while Kansas City Blazer Bobby Bollier, who led at the 150-meter mark barely held onto second in 2:01.44.
