INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, August 4. AS part of a 100-meter breaststroke time trial earlier this week, Mark Gangloff established the second-fastest time in American history in the 50 breast. Gangloff touched at the turn in 27.41, just off the American standard of Ed Moses, which sits at 27.39. Earlier this month, Gangloff won the silver medal in the 100 breast at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n
Gangloff's time would have won the world championship earlier this year in Melbourne and ranks as the swiftest mark of the year. The Auburn University product, now representing the Mecklenburg Aquatic Club, has shown tremendous speed of late. Gangloff also went 27.55 in the 50 breast during a Friday time trial.<\/p>\n
