IPC Swimming announced the resignation of Glenn Tasker<\/strong>, Vice Chairperson of its Sport Technical Committee, on Wednesday (16 September), and launched the search for his replacement amongst National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) and International Organisations of Sports for the Disabled (IOSDs).<\/p>\n

Sir Philip Craven<\/strong>, IPC President, thanked Tasker for his work and wished him well for the future:
\n“Glenn has been involved with the development of para-swimming, particularly in Australia, for many years. Since becoming the Vice Chairperson in 2009 he has made a huge contribution to the Sport Technical Committee, most recently balancing a busy schedule which includes his full-time role as President of the Australian Paralympic Committee.<\/p>\n

“When Glenn became President of the Australian Paralympic Committee he indicated he would gradually step back from his IPC Swimming duties and we are hugely grateful for his tireless work. I wish Glenn the very best of luck in his future endeavours with the Australian Paralympic Committee.”<\/p>\n

IPC Swimming is now inviting nominations for a new Vice Chairperson, to serve alongside Chairperson Jane Blaine<\/strong>, from NPCs and IOSDs that widely and regularly practice swimming.<\/p>\n

The role will include deputising for the Chairperson in their absence at meetings and events, assisting them with their duties and monitoring the progress of IPC Swimming Strategic Plan, which runs until 2016.<\/p>\n

The ideal candidate will have significant working experience of para-swimming, including its rules and regulations, and also possess an in-depth knowledge of FINA rules.<\/p>\n

They must also have proven leadership abilities, experience of working with international colleagues and a talent for strategic and operational planning.<\/p>\n

Once the nominations close on 12 October, the applications will be reviewed by a Nominations Working Group and an interview period conducted between 19-28 October.<\/p>\n

The new Vice Chairperson will then be announced in November.<\/p>\n

The nomination documents have been distributed to NPCs and IOSDs.<\/p>\n
