{"id":153060,"date":"2015-09-03T13:20:04","date_gmt":"2015-09-03T20:20:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=153060"},"modified":"2015-09-03T13:20:04","modified_gmt":"2015-09-03T20:20:04","slug":"carmel-high-school-takes-nisca-national-dual-meet-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/carmel-high-school-takes-nisca-national-dual-meet-title\/","title":{"rendered":"Carmel High School Takes NISCA National Dual Meet Title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association has published its 2014-2015 national dual meet team rankings, with Carmel High School in Indiana winning the overall title. <\/p>\n<p>Carmel, led by head coach <strong>Chris Plumb<\/strong>, scored 6,570 points in NISCA\u2019s power points system that gives points to athletes\u2019 performances in dual meets throughout the season. Buoyed by national team members <strong>Amy Bilquist<\/strong> and <strong>Claire Adams<\/strong>, Carmel wins its third overall and girls\u2019 title and second consecutive victory to go along with their 2011 win. Carmel was the overall runner-up in 2012 and 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Sacred Heart Academy, an all-girls school in Louisville, Ky., and the all-boys school St. Xavier in nearby Cincinnati, gave the region some pride by placing second and third in the national overall rankings, respectively. Sacred Heart earned 6,333 points to Xavier\u2019s 6,285.<\/p>\n<p>St. Xavier\u2019s points were good enough to win the overall boys rankings, and with the help of newly-minted world junior champion <strong>Grant House<\/strong>, Xavier was the only boys school to amass more than 6,000 points last season. Brother Rice in Michigan scored 5,989 points, while Southlake Carroll in Texas earned 5,952 points.<\/p>\n<p>After making it tougher to score points in this past season, only seven schools scored more than 6,000 points. In the past, about 20 schools were scoring that high. The other five schools to earn more than 6,000 points in dual meet scoring were: Bolles School (6,212), North Allegheny (6,105), San Ramon Valley (6,104) and Santa Margarita (6,025). Five of the top seven scores came from girls teams in the 2014-2015 season.<\/p>\n<p>Carmel also won the combined rankings, earning 12,228 points (6,570 girls, 5,658 boys) over the 12,153 from the Bolles School (6,212 boys, 5,941 girls). Bolles had the highest ranks of both teams, with the girls ranked third overall and the boys ranked in a tie for fourth with North Allegheny. North Allegheny rounded out the top three combined teams with 12,046 points.<\/p>\n<p>When grouped by enrollment, the Bolles School in Florida was the only institution to top their division in both the boys\u2019 and girls\u2019 rankings. Among independent schools with enrollments of less than 900 students, Bolles was far and away the best team. The girls team amassed 6,212 points ahead of the 5,038 by runner-up Suffield Academy in Connecticut. On the boys side, Bolles scored 5,941 points, with powerhouse Baylor School in Tennessee not far behind with 5,757 points.<\/p>\n<p>Teams from 36 states and the District of Columbia earned a spot in the top 25 rankings based on divisions, the same as in the 2013-2014 season.
