AFTER watching the &quot;short distance&quot; swimmers take on the Olympic 10K distance as part of the FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup held earlier this week (as reported  <a href=http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/lane9\/news\/15272.asp>here<\/a> by <b>SwimmingWorldMagazine.com<\/b>), the long distance elite battled a 32K course at the same location.<\/p>\n<p>Bulgaria&#39;s Petar Stoychev remained one of the members among the top echelon of open water swimming with a win in 6:36:29, while hometown favorite Simon Tobin of Canada snagged second in 6:36:38 in what amounts to a photo finish in open water competition.  Argetina&#39;s Damian Blaum was involved in the final push for the title with a third-place 6:36:53.<\/p>\n<p>Spain&#39;s Esther Nunez Morera claimed the women&#39;s title in 7:03:09, while Australia&#39;s Shelley Clark finished second in the women&#39;s race with a time of 7:06:47.
