2015 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships: Live Results – Results<\/a><\/p>\nMEN’S 100 FREE<\/strong><\/p>\nFelipe Souza<\/strong> of Brazil topped the qualifiers list during prelims of the men’s 100-meter free with a final time of 49.64. Souza added slightly to his seed time of 49.16, a time not too far off of\u00a0Caeleb Dressel’s\u00a0<\/strong>championship meet record of 48.97 from 2013.<\/p>\nSouza’s teammate\u00a0Pedro Spajari\u00a0<\/strong>finished second overall in prelims posting a qualifying time of 49.90 making him the only other athlete to swim below the 50-second mark.<\/p>\nRussia’s\u00a0Vladislav Kozlov<\/strong>\u00a0tied with Australia’s\u00a0Vincent Dai <\/strong>for the third place seed. Kozlov posted\u00a0a time of 50.02 from heat eight, scraping .05 seconds off his seed time of 50.07, while Dai’s 50.02 came from heat nine.<\/p>\nAlessandro Miressi<\/strong> of Italy took the fifth place seed with a time of 50.06, while teammate\u00a0Alessandro Bori\u00a0<\/strong>finished sixth in prelims with a time of 50.10.<\/p>\nRomania’s\u00a0Robert Glinta<\/strong> turned in a time of 50.18 to grab the seventh place seed, and Australia’s\u00a0Kyle Chalmers\u00a0<\/strong>posted a time of 50.20 to grab eighth.<\/p>\nUSA’s\u00a0Maxime Rooney<\/strong> (50.24), Serbia’s Andrej Barna<\/b> (50.30), Canada’s\u00a0Markus Thormeyer<\/strong> (50.31), Mexico’s\u00a0Jorge Iga<\/strong> (50.53), Egypt’s\u00a0Mohamed Samy<\/strong> (50.59), Russia’s\u00a0Aleksei Brianskii<\/strong> (50.63), Canada’s\u00a0Javier Acevedo<\/strong> (50.71), and USA’s\u00a0Ryan Hoffer<\/strong> (50.76) complete the top sixteen.<\/p>\nWOMEN’S 100 FLY<\/strong><\/p>\nCassidy Bayer<\/strong> of the USA shot to the top of the qualifying list for the women’s 100-meter fly with a time of 58.87 during prelims of day five. Bayer succeeded in dropping time from her seed time of 59.00 to put her in a good position to challenge the championship meet record of 58.34 set by\u00a0Svetlana Chimrova<\/strong> in 2013.<\/p>\nRikako Ikee\u00a0<\/strong>of Japan and\u00a0Lauren Case<\/strong> of the USA battled it out in heat six, finishing .32 seconds apart. Ikee got to the wall first with a time of 59.08 to grab the second place seed, while Case’s time of 59.40 earned her the third place seed for tonight’s semi-finals.<\/p>\nAustralia’s\u00a0Lucia Lassman<\/strong> grabbed fourth overall in prelims with a time of 59.54, also from heat six.<\/p>\nCanada’s Penny Oleksiak\u00a0<\/b>turned in a time of 59.80 to grab the fifth place seed. She was followed closely to the wall by\u00a0Aurora Petronio\u00a0<\/strong>of Italy who touched with a time of 59.87 from the same heat.<\/p>\nAustralia’s\u00a0Gemma Cooley<\/strong> took seventh overall with a time of 59.94, while Hungary’s\u00a0Sonja\u00a0<\/strong>Szokol\u00a0<\/b>rounded out the top eight with a time of 1:00.14.<\/p>\nRussia’s\u00a0Polina Egorova\u00a0<\/strong>(1:00.23), Spain’s Carmen Balbuena\u00a0<\/b>(1:00.32), Slovakia’s\u00a0Barbora Misendova<\/strong> (1:00.41), Hungary’s\u00a0Nikolett Federics<\/strong> (1:00.49), Italy’s\u00a0Ilaria Cusinato<\/strong> (1:00.51), Great Britain’s\u00a0Laura Stephens<\/strong> (1:00.52), China’s Wang Jingzhuo\u00a0<\/b>(1:00.58), and Russia’s\u00a0Alexandra Chesnokova<\/strong> (1:00.71) round out the top sixteen qualifiers for tonight’s semi-finals.<\/p>\nMEN’S 400 IM\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\nSean Grieshop<\/strong> of the USA blazed to first in prelims of the men’s 400-meter IM during day five prelims of the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships with a final time of 4:18.19. Grieshop added slightly to his seed time of 4:17.02.<\/p>\nSpain’s\u00a0Hugo Gonzalez\u00a0<\/strong>finished second overall with a time of 4:21.12, shaving 1.11 seconds off his seed time of 4:22.23.<\/p>\nBrandonn Almeida<\/strong> of Brazil and\u00a0Nikolai Sokolov<\/strong> of Russia battled for the third place seed in heat five, finishing .08 seconds apart. Almeida got to the wall first posting a time of 4:22.67 to claim the third place seed, while Sokolov took fourth with a time of 4:22.75.<\/p>\nCharlie Swanson<\/strong> of the USA grabbed a close fifth in prelims with a final time of 4:22.77 from heat four.<\/p>\nDaniel Sos\u00a0<\/strong>of Hungary turned in a finishing time of 4:22.98 for the sixth place seed.<\/p>\nChina’s\u00a0Wang Zhou<\/strong> posted a time of 4:24.25 to grab the seventh place seed from heat three, while Portugal’s\u00a0Joao Vital<\/strong> was eighth with a time of 4:25.23 from the same heat.<\/p>\nWOMEN’S 50 FREE<\/strong><\/p>\nRussia went 1-2 in prelims of the women’s 50 free during day five of the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.\u00a0Mariia Kameneva\u00a0<\/strong>turned in a qualifying time of 25.43 to grab the top seed for semi-finals from heat eight. Teammate\u00a0Daria Ustinova\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed the second place seed when she turned in a time of 25.48 from heat seven.<\/p>\nShayna Jack<\/strong> of Australia rounded out the top three qualifiers with a time of 25.54, also from heat seven.<\/p>\nJapan’s\u00a0Rikako Ikee\u00a0<\/strong>and China’s\u00a0Tang Yuting<\/strong> kept it close in heat six, finishing .06 seconds apart. WOMEN’S 1500 FREE<\/strong><\/p>\nOlivia Anderson<\/strong> of Canada topped the competition in the women’s 1500-meter free during prelims of day five of the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships. Anderson turned in a time of 16:37.03 to grab the current top ranking.
