{"id":152505,"date":"2015-08-28T03:51:56","date_gmt":"2015-08-28T10:51:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=152505"},"modified":"2015-08-28T05:22:04","modified_gmt":"2015-08-28T12:22:04","slug":"michael-andrew-leads-way-in-50-fly-semis-at-2015-fina-world-junior-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/michael-andrew-leads-way-in-50-fly-semis-at-2015-fina-world-junior-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Andrew Leads Way in 50 Fly Semis at 2015 FINA World Junior Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> nearly cracked the meet record in the men&#8217;s 50-meter fly semis at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew, who already smoked the 50 back earlier in the evening for a win, set himself up for another gold with a 23.66 in semis.<\/p>\n<p>That swim just missed<strong> Daniel Bell&#8217;s<\/strong> meet record of 23.61 from 2008, but is well off <strong>Evgeny Sedov&#8217;s<\/strong> World Junior mark of 23.28 from the 2014 Russian Championships in Moscow.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s <strong>Andrii Khloptsov<\/strong> qualified second in 23.77 with Russia&#8217;s <strong>Vladislav Kozlov<\/strong> (23.99) and <strong>Daniil Pakhomov<\/strong> (24.04) taking third and fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Spain&#8217;s <strong>Alberto Lozano<\/strong> (24.12), Croatia&#8217;s <strong>Bruno Blaskovic<\/strong> (24.25) and Poland&#8217;s <strong>Michal Chudy<\/strong> (24.25) also secured spots in the finale.<\/p>\n<p>Poland&#8217;s<strong> Pawel Sendyk<\/strong>, Brazil&#8217;s <strong>Vinicius Lanza<\/strong> and Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brayden McCarthy<\/strong> set up an exciting three-way swimoff with matching times of 24.38 for the eighth spot in finals.<\/p>\n<p>Lanza won the swimoff in 24.06, while Sendyk (24.39) and McCarthy (24.41) missed the finals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SCHEDULED EVENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Women&#8217;s 50 back semis<\/li>\n<li>Men&#8217;s 200 breast finals<\/li>\n<li>Women&#8217;s 50 fly finals<\/li>\n<li>Men&#8217;s 50 back finals<\/li>\n<li>Women&#8217;s 100 breast finals<\/li>\n<li>Men&#8217;s 50 fly semis<\/li>\n<li>Women&#8217;s 400 free finals<\/li>\n<li>Men&#8217;s 50 free finals<\/li>\n<li>Women&#8217;s 200 IM finals<\/li>\n<li>Men&#8217;s 800 free relay finals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>USA&#8217;s Michael Andrew nearly cracked the meet record in the men&#8217;s 50-meter fly semis at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.
