Ikee added slightly to her seed time of 26.28, a time that is quicker than the\u00a0championship meet record of 26.32 set by\u00a0Svetlana Chimrova<\/strong> in 2013. Look for Ikee to challenge that time in semi-finals.<\/p>\nRussia’s\u00a0Mariia Kameneva\u00a0<\/strong>turned in a quick time of 26.71 to grab the second-place seed. Kameneva added slightly to her seed time of 26.58.<\/p>\nPenny Oleksiak\u00a0<\/strong>of Canada posted a finishing time of 26.85 to snag third. The top three qualifiers were the only three below the sub-26 second mark.<\/p>\nAustralia’s\u00a0Lucia Lassman<\/strong> finished fourth overall in prelims with a time of 27.11. Andrew’s time is also a new meet record, replacing\u00a0Grigory Tarasevich’s<\/strong> time of 25.44 from 2013.<\/p>\nVenezuela’s\u00a0Robinson Molina<\/strong> finished second overall in prelims with a quick time of 25.75, bettering slightly on his seed time of 25.90.<\/p>\nTeammates Mohamed Samy<\/b> and\u00a0Youssef Abdalla<\/strong> from Egypt went 3-4 in prelims to situate themselves in the middle of the pool for tonight’s semi-finals. Gunes succeeded in shaving .64 seconds off of her seed time of 1:07.60 and finished strikingly close to\u00a0Ruta Meilutyte’s\u00a0<\/strong>2013 championship meet record of 1:06.61.<\/p>\nJapan’s\u00a0Runa Imai\u00a0<\/strong>finished second overall in prelims with a time of 1:08.35. Imai added slightly to her time of 1:07.46 so look for her to turn up the heat come semi-finals tonight.<\/p>\nGreat Britain’s\u00a0Katie Matts<\/strong> grabbed the third place seed with a finishing time of 1:08.66, adding just slightly to her seed time of 1:08.53.<\/p>\nMariia Astashkina\u00a0<\/strong>of Russia finished fourth in prelims with a time of 1:08.89. Astashkina was followed closely to the wall by Italy’s\u00a0Giulia Verona,<\/strong> also of heat 3, after Verona posted a time of 1:08.96.<\/p>\nSweden’s\u00a0Sophie Hansson<\/strong> and Japan’s\u00a0Yukino Miyasaka\u00a0<\/strong>turned in strikingly close times with Hansson finishing only .02 seconds ahead of Miyasaka in the results. Castro posted a time of 7:57.21, only .22 ahead of the competition.
