MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, July 21. SIX more meet records went down during the final night of long course meter competition at the Minneapolis Speedo Sectional on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The women accomplished a meet-record sweep as each event featured a new standard. Dagny Knutson, 15, of Minot YMCA surpassed the 200 IM record of 2:20.55 set by Melissa Marik n July 24, 2005, with a winning time of 2:19.10.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Minnesota's Yuen Kobayashi demolished her former standard of 16:57.61 with a top time of 16:48.93 en route to a more than 20-second triumph in the 1500 free.<\/p>\n
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Betsy Webb, 16, of New Trier nipped Andrea Hupman's previous record of 26.37 set on July 23, 2006 with a time of 26.30. She touched out Minnesota's Stacey Busack and Sun Devil Aquatics' Traycie Swartz, who placed second with matching 26.43s.<\/p>\n
Team Foxjet's meet record time of 4:21.61 in the 400 medley relay fell to a pair of teams as Sun Devil Aquatics' foursome of Ashley Brewer, Christine Olson, Whitney Lopus and Swartz won in 4:17.34 and Minnesota's team of Roxane Akradi, Kimberly Kazika, Deidre Dewall and Kobayashi placed second in 4:20.33.<\/p>\n
Mike Holmes of Minnesota obliterated the men's 1500 free meet record of 16:02.74 set by Rion Epping on July 29, 2001 when he hit the wall in 15:44.57 to dominate the race.<\/p>\n
Holmes' teammates David Plummer, Jon Roberts, Zach Wood and Michael Woodson lowered the squad's meet standard of 3:48.46 set in the 400 medley relay on July 28, 2002 with a title-winning time of 3:47.62.<\/p>\n
Adam Small, 17, of Sun Devil Aquatics won the men's 50 free in 23.34, while the men's 200 IM came down to recent Minnesota transfer from Auburn, Jon Roberts, clocking a 2:04.45.
